I think so.
Oh, good news for all the moders: you know the useless Gmax? well, FS2002 supports it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Everybody can make planes for it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Gmax is free. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif)

Hey, neat! now can it support weapons fire? We'd have an instant Rogue Squadron beater...
-
Anyone else think this might be a posibility for creating FS2 surface missions?

FS2002 is a civ simulator, not a combat one: no weapons, no targetting systems, but lots of airports where you can land or take off. Breath taking action!
-
Someone mod Janes F-15, although nothing will come close to the awesomeness of Rogue Squadron II.

hmm...what would one do in a CFS2? Fly around Elysium and Isis transports through GTVA systems while trying to run away from any scenes of fighting? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (maybe the C could stand for "coward" instead instead of "civilian" (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif))
BTW does anyone happen to know the estimated release date for Falcon 5.0? I'm thinking about buying this when it comes out...

I think the "C" stands for "combat"

Fly your Elysium from point A to point B. No shooting people, no storyline, no trading or pirating - what could be more exhilirating?
