Title: TGS 06 Thread.
Post by: Deepblue on September 20, 2006, 05:18:18 pm
I'll start this out with a summary of the MS pre-TGS Conference.

Important stuff:

More TGS news to come. Especially when the new MGS4 trailer hits.

Wait.... what the **** are you doing trying to support MS in Japan....? Face it, the 360 is a lost cause over in Japan. To put things into perspective, the 360, over the course of ten months, hasn't sold as many units that Xbox 1 did on ITS FIRST DAY. Hell, they still got first-gen Xboxes over there, with the original Duke controllers, still new in the box, never opened.

Anyways, the big news of the day seems to be from Sony, and microtransactions for the upcomming GT4: HD. Here (http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33831) is the news, it comes from the Japanese game magazine Famatisu, so its translated. I am still dumbfounded by this.. I mean, to get the FULL game, all the cars and tracks included, your looking at $408.00 for all the content alone, PLUS $500/$600 for the PS3, and atleast $40 (thats the new 'budget' price for the next-gen, it seems) for the game.

I'm not... Those games will come to NA and Europe. I couldn't care less about the Japanese market.

MGS4 gameplay scans:

Can't see enough, but from what I can, it looks hot. And I'm glad they've adopted the splinter cell camera. :D

I really hope this gets ported to the 360 because I need this game, but not the $600 it costs for a PS3...

Alright, Sony's press conference...

(these are not my own words)

● The conference talks about GMS - aka GLOBAL MAPPING SYSTEM - which helps developers gather information from their games without having to make a trip, apparently. Needs lots of participation to "work", says Kutaragi.
● Sony announces that PS3 will host small videos and large videos, some sort of youtube-esque setup for users. Uhm, I guess.
● Sony announces that MEGADRIVE and PC ENGINE games will be available for download on PS3.
● Trailer reel of E3 FFXIII footage, Virtua Fighter 5, Afrika, Gundam and Ridge Racer 7.
● That's... basically it. Dead serious. Check This link( http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=67794) for exact details.

I wouldn't say that because the environment textures, quite plainly, suck. It's because Kojima is doing 1080p. I would much rather have a 720p MGS4 with awesome textures.

(looks at info involving GT5)

Dangit, having to pay for cars and tracks reeks "ARCADE"... weren't console and PC games supposed to be cheaper in the long run compared to arcade stuff? And for someone like me, I'd probably have to starve just to collect every last car in the game... not to mention that there'll always be people who are better off than me, buying all the special edition cars before I even know they were released... Bangwal... :shaking:

Gears of War looks more impressive than MGS4. The textures in MGS on the guy look detailed but plastic-y and the other textures suck. Gears of war looks much more realistic/gritty

Sorry, what was that? That's the sound of me not caring. Woohoo, more photo-realistic games that play like games from 1998 and 1999.
