Title: OpenAL Installer
Post by: Forkedone on September 20, 2006, 05:58:34 pm
Hello all,

I know this might not be a proper place to ask this so feel free to move/delete this message.

But: Does anyone have the OpenAL installer for windows or an alternative download location for that? The link karajorma provided on his Great tutorial (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,42081.msg859921.html#msg859921) on this thread, leads at Creative's site (http://developer.creative.com/articles/article.asp?cat=1&sbcat=31&top=38&aid=46) to a dead ftp.

I've been trying to search over an hour for a mirror for that OpenALwEAX.exe from various places but with no luck.

I've moved this for you, just to let you know that the link seems to work ok for me though...

The site in question does require passive FTP though, so it can get messed up by a firewall, depending on how good your firewall is.  I know it gets hit by my firewall, and I always have to lower the settings before downloading something from Creative (and numerous other places).

Thanks for the suggestion, case solved: I lowered my firewall's settings to allow passive mode in ftp, that didn't help thought as I had forgotten to check the IPtables of my Peerguardian. Disabling PG for a second allowed me finally to access.

You may lock this topic. Thank you for the fast responses.
