Title: bugtest release for Stand at Ross 128 mod
Post by: Turey on September 25, 2006, 10:13:39 pm
I've been working on this for about...... one week? two weeks?

i've got two of the final ten new ships in game, but they cause problems.

i'd like any help with bugtesting that i can get. If you know how to fix the bug, please post that as well.

I'm only looking for bugs that cause CTDs, not balance issues or comments on the test mission or the look of the ships.

get the .vp here (http://files.filefront.com/iixxanbugtestzip/;5955189;;/fileinfo.html).

the first mission is the bomber test, the second is the fighter test.

known bugs:

Bomber causes CTD when the player dies in it (doesn't cause CTD otherwise!).

fighter causes CTD when it collides with another ship.

EDIT (09/29/06): VP, bugs updated. (See post below for Bomber bug info.)

Ehm,I cannot DL the VP...

it works for me.

click the link, then click the Download Now icon, then ignore the error message (it doesn't apply to this file) and scroll down and click the link in the text "Your download is ready. Please click this link to start the download. "

it should work.

VP:
Updated, grab the new one.

Bugs:
ok, so the bomber now CTDs when you die in it. when anyone else is flying it, it works fine.

When I die, I get this:

Warning: Null vec3d in vec3d normalize.
Trace out of vecmat.cpp and find offending code.

File:C:\temp\fs2_open_3_6_9.t\code\Math\VecMat.cpp
Line: 800
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

Call stack:

    vm_vec_normalize()    g3_draw_rotated_bitmap_3d()    g3_draw_rotated_bitmap()    fireball_render()    obj_render()    obj_render_all()    game_render_frame()    game_frame()    game_do_frame()    game_do_state()    gameseq_process_events()    game_main()    WinMain()    WinMainCRTStartup()    kernel32.dll 7c816fd7()
------------------------------------------------------------------

however, I can just hit "no" a couple of times, and i can continue playing.

I just gave it a run.

amd64 3200+  ati x700 1gb ram winxp
Using 3.6.9rc7 build.

No problems at all. shot a missle at the sathanis and blew it up[unless that is a glitch and you didn't make it explode on one missle yourself via sexp] did some dog fighting, Did it a few times[dying sometimes against the dragons.]
No crashes on my end for any reason.

the sathanas dying so easily was intentional, I needed a nice big blast to test how much I got thrown around.

can you give me your command line options?

EDIT: oh ****, I feel stupid. I was using the debug build to playtest the models, and I didn't realize that some of the errors that the debug build reports are suppressed without ill effects in the main version.

So you're right, it works fine on the main RC7 version. It doesn't work as well on the debug build.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Not completly sure what you mean by command line. Do you mean where it list all the launcher features you have selected? If yes than this is what it says there.

C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_3_6_9 .exe -mod ixxan, ,mediavps -spec -glow -env -jpgtga -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -missile_lighting -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ballistic_gauge -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash -wcsaga -snd_preload -alpha_env  -ambient_factor 75

Is that what you mean by command line?
