Title: Is your campaign nearly done?
Post by: IPAndrews on September 30, 2006, 07:10:58 am
With all the vapourware campaigns on HLP I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where people can come and say "Actually my campaign is very nearly finished and plans on releasing something very shortly". I'm a big fan of space combat games and have been looking forward to some of these campaigns for long, long time. It does seem sometimes though like nothing will ever get released. So... anyone got any good news?  :nervous:

PS: any newbies here. Don't bother telling me how difficult making a campaign is. Just don't ;).

I havent even notified anyone about it... but mine alternate FS thing will be finalized with the current pace in n+2 months where n is always the current month... Its basically a sort of a rewrite of whole FS thing with more clearly defined 'laws' (subspace and all that)...

Written in bad english... Not yet ready fluff page... (http://koti.mbnet.fi/vekkup/FS2/campaign.html)

Background... is almost complete...
Models... uses very few additional models.. all ready or almost ready
Effects... all ready
Tables... being currently worked on
Mission Scripts... ready for 10 (or so...) missions
Missions... none ready

Assistance beyond the extremely helpful fellow SoL team members is appreaciated but not required (atleast not yet)...

The Beyond the Red Line demo is close. A couple more missions and voice acting is pretty much all we need.

I'll probably try and feature creep that out a bit if I'm free as long as it doesn't delay the actual release.

Mine is almost done, roughly 90% I would say. I need to do one more mission and make a few minor refinements to various things, although with my college semester the way it is, it will probably be the end of the year before I get around to finishing everything.

Don't want to say how close mine is, as it's only a sort of spare-time mini, meaning work is sporadic at best. I'll say maybe sometime before Halloween if Uni doesn't get to hectic.

Yes and no.

I have one minicampaign nearly done, I just have some refinements to do. But I'm lazy, so that might take awhile. :p

Then I also have a few other minicampaigns that I started, but work on those is sorta off and on.

Well,
I have 17 missions out of about 22-24 total that are pretty much complete.
But a lot of those 17 I still need to go back and flesh out a few of their details and test them a bit.

Btw dude, Making a campaign is hard man......

ST:R has been "nearly" done for a few years now.  But we're currently more "nearly" done than at any previous time. :)

In summary: We hope to have all mission editing done by the end of the year.

SomethingTM for SomeoneTM 1 of 7 Missions complete. (I think...don't quote me on the length.)

Chap. 1 of Police Action: 9 of 15 missions complete.

Unnamed sequel to Operation Savior: 1 of 5 (number may expand) missions complete.

Unnamed Lizardships-using campaign: story ready, missions planned, weapons ready, 3 of 7 ships ready, waiting on Raa to finish one and me to finish the rest.

Back From The Grave: Story ready, missions planned, needs balancing and additional ships.

Making a campaign is sooo hard, though!   :P

Are they really? I can understand IPAndrew's BHX being massively complicated and hard, but are FREDding "normal" campaigns that hard? I just find they take time and I need to be properly motivated to do them.

Voice acting?Check the board,it's impossible! I was wondering...how could Derelict have voice acting?

STHCRS:40+ missions done/need some messages/need more testing and of course GRAMMAR CHECKING cutscenes not included :D
<I'm not talking about the first Part, but the campaign in general>
Steadfast: 30+ missions done/need some messages. cutscenes not included :D
Colossus: 4 missions done,I don't know how many mission the campaign is going to have.
TSP: first mission still not complete(Bob-san changes the plot almost every day)!

Urgh,now I must continue to test INF:A...

voice acting for derelict only happened several YEARS after it was first released.

our chances for decent voice acting don't look so good, do they?

Flames of War: Chapter 1 is close to completion..

As allways FREDers and testers are what's missing the most, but to be honest I'm not doing the campaign ATM. I have 10 or so missions to polish up / re-write / complete.

Oh,I forgot about testers! SInce the team knows everything about the plot,we need a tester that could make in-mission decisions we can't imagine!!! D'Oh!

I'm slowly plodding along on mine, since I'm the only one working on it ;)

It'll be done, at some point.

Machina Terra has been finished for a year. We're just waiting for the right moment to release it.

TVWP is kinda close. Really. Just some FREDDing, and Im trying to replace a crappy model here and there. Texturing takes so long compaired to modelling.

Of course he's serious, I managed to steal myself a version and have been playing it for the past few days. Very fun little campaign.

If I still had a cable connection I would do it.

If we're lucky, MT might even come out during our lifetimes!

Well, modelwise, everything is done. I can attest to that. It's just FREDding that needs doing, so if you want to see MT finished, and know how to FRED, I suggest you apply to Styxx with a sample mission showing that you know what you're doing with it.

Styxx was furiously beavering away on a dissertation last I heard.

To be entirely honest, I've lost a lot of interest in getting FS stuff done.  School eats up a lot of free time these days, making it very difficult to simply sit down for long enough to do anything worth of anything in FRED.

to bring the disscusion back on topic:

my campain isn't even close to done. However, if I could get a decent FREDer (and maybe a texturer), it'd go much faster. I dont have enough time to do modeling, as I'm having to do most of the FREDing and I really suck at it.

My missions turn out fine, but they take me FOREVER to make.

expect a final release sometime between 2007 and 2012.
