Post by: CougEr on December 06, 2001, 05:37:00 pm
Nhaaaa. It's World Construction set 5.0
Probably the best terra forming 3D program I know.
 World Construction set 5.0 (//"http://www.3dnature.com/history.html")
I just...
 LOVE IT!    (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

You can kinda tell it's not real, but still, that's damn nice.

Enough to put BRICE to shame and totally Lightwave and MAX compatible.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
I'd write a really nice letter to Santa if I was in your place. You'd never know what can be found in CougEr's sock under the fireplace on Xmas day.

Yea, it's too glossy to be real.  But it's amazing how real things have gotten.

image nr. 2 is the most real one IMO, but still not quite. Very, very very nice though  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Ah, beautiful. It's incredible how people can program programs that make these.

My brother is a Terragen nut; I should probably direct him to these... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Eh? Setekh, you volunteering to make mypersonal 3D program?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
First, it must be freeware.
Second, it must combine all the good qualities of 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, and Maya. Are you writing this down???  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I already made it.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Just working on the 'release' bit.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I'm sorry, but no. worldbuilder has better trees/lighting, Terragen's sky and water effects own all, and the textures of the land is horrible, like a cartoon.

hell, here's a simple bryce 4 render, without much trouble. This tool me less than an hour:

3D modeling is the one thing he is better at than me; I gotta change that...

I could really use the problem, too bad there aren't any (deleted out of self censorship) for it, and the price is in the thousands of moola units....

LOL, I guess I'll tell him that his renderings aren't so bad after all. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

He sucks at mission design though; he kept bothering me for days about the classic FRED2 question ("how do I make the beams fire?"); I kept telling to make an event using the beam-free-all operator, but he didn't know what that was and said that the events editor is too confusing for him ( (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)), so finally I had to do it for him in all of his missions. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (which are all "battle of Endor" missions BTW)

Oh yeah, and he always hogs the computer, so I can't use it except in the nights... :P
