Title: Wanted: 3D Flight Sim based on Google Earth
Post by: Sandwich on October 05, 2006, 09:19:37 pm
Yeah. What the subject says. Like this (http://www.isoma.net/games/goggles.html), only 3d. :p Or like this (http://www.gearthblog.com/blog/archives/2005/09/ms_flight_simul.html), but in a somewhat more cohesive package.

If anyone finds/hears of something, let me know. :)

Flight Simulator 9/X?

EDIT: Nevermind...but isn't that Google Earth/Flight sim thing basically what you want? :)

I think it might be, but I can't make heads or tails of it. :p Do I need MSFS? What version? It said it could run on something free, didn't it? What's it talking about? Who am I? Where the heck is this?? :nervous:

Well, if you have a lot of money to spend (70 $ circa), you can buy X-Plane 8 with the world scenery (7 double-layer DVDs, for about 60-70 GBs of hard disk space). Look at http://www.x-plane.com/.

Tempting... if I wanted to get into something as complex as that. Even MSFS is too complex for my liking. I just wanna hop in a plane and zoom around the planet. :p

Hmmm... google earth, and planes... If one took the camera from google earth, and integrated it with a joystick, and had about 16GB of RAM, they could do that with no latency..
