There's no question-- the religious right is entirely full of ****. But they're still amateurs, because being full of **** isn't enough for the Bush White House. Oh no, this administration is so full of ****, the **** they're full of is actually full of ****.

The stakes couldn't be any higher. . . There are extreme elements that use religion to achieve objectives
you mean like the romans, the christians, the republicans, the egyptians, the muslims, the politicians, the united states, the church of satan, bush himself, this list goes on and on and on.
-
Church of satan?
-
you know anton's litle cult :D im supprised you havent heard of them, they get alot of air time on the history channel.
-
Riiiiight. :nervous:
Anyway, I don't really find this surprising in the least. Religious groups are there for one, simple reason; to be exploited by those with power. Think about it.

Strauss believed that the liberal idea of individual freedom led people to question everything—all values, all moral truths. Instead, people were led by their own selfish desires. And this threatened to tear apart the shared values which held society together. But there was a way to stop this, Strauss believed. It was for politicians to assert powerful and inspiring myths that everyone could believe in. They might not be true, but they were necessary illusions. One of these was religion; the other was the myth of the nation. And in America, that was the idea that the country had a unique destiny to battle the forces of evil throughout the world.

The neoconservatives were idealists. Their aim was to try and stop the social disintegration they believed liberal freedoms had unleashed. They wanted to find a way of uniting the people, by giving them a shared purpose. One of their great influences in doing this would be the theories of Leo Strauss.
Seriously guys. Beg, borrow or steal a copy of The Power of Nightmares. I'm pretty sure it's available on bitTorrent amongst others. The fact that the majority of the neo-cons don't believe in anything other than using the christian right isn't exactly new to me.

Next part (http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/2006/10/a_****ing_faith.html), if anyone's interested. Ironically, the Bush administration has given me one thing on which I can agree with them.

Actually you have to be logged in and not be a pussy to get the link to work. Have to have the censor off in your options. Like for example, the way in which eagleclaw doesn't.

intresting fact: the chrisitan church is guilty of far more atrocities than the church of satan.
-
well it hasn't been around as long, you can't rush these things, just give it time to mature a bit and I'm sure the church of Satan will bring about horrors the likes of wich the wolrd can not at this time comprehend.
-
Highly doubt it.
-
the church of satan is loosing footing sence the death of anton levey. while it it true its not a long lasting cult/religion. my point it more atrocities will be commited in the name of good than will ever be done in the name of evil.
-
Yeah we got it.
-
And more good things have been/will be done in the name of good than in the name of evil.
-
Nobody does anything in the name of evil.
-
it is twice as evil to do an evil thing in the name of good as it is to do an evil thing in the name of evil.
and i do lots of things in the name of evil. :D
-
Yeah Nuke, but mastrubating doesn't count.
-
Charming.
-
My friend, I have never been otherwise.
-
no, you cant watch!
-
Damn. My plans are foiled.
-
My friend, I have never been otherwise.
Excellent retort. I tip my hat to you, good fellow.
-
