Post by: wEvil on December 15, 2001, 04:31:00 pm
 (http://wevil.netfirms.com/havokAN.jpg)

Ill get something decent done in a couple of days

------------------
have you ANY idea of how much trouble you're in?
assault on a police officer.
Theft of police property.
Illegal possesion of a firearm.
FIVE counts of attempted murder.
That comes to...

twenty-nine dollars and 14 cents.
cash, cheque or credit card?

Show me a larger version of that render and I'll show you a man with a new wallpaper.

My resolution is 1280x1024 - so anything thats "widescreen" for that (1280x960 was I think...)

ok, its rendering..might take a couple of hours.

When you bump up the resolution you have to bump up the per-pixel sampling values otherwise you get some nasty jaggies (especially on radiosity/motion blurred/DOF scenes..just the way my renderer works)

**UPDATE**

woohooo

done..added a little thingie (probably ruined it)..sorry, pissed off.  just found my brothers been having trouble with a bunch of townies (again).  I wonder if that trash have anything better to do with their time other than wandering around in the freezing cold trying to start fights with total strangers.

this is a big image...be prepared to wait.

The point isn't reducing load time, it's making it so it doesn't screw up the frames  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif) I'm doing it for the benefit of all those people here who have lower screen resolutions, for whom the large pictures will widen the frames and screw up the text.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

And, wEvil... dude... that is one heck of a good render there  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) Nice one and a half!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Woah, we have a winner (not literally for the contest, yet  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif))! Nice job dude  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Oh, and I know what you mean about the townies - we have that in our town...humans really can be scum sometimes.

I always use MAX to generate the imagery then use Digital Fusion or Potatoshop to composite them together, a simple screen/alpha blend job.

Anyway...can i enter this for the render compo or do i have to do something completely different?

Not sure over here. I'd love to believe you can, but we'll need Shrike's word on it.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

It's easy. Two motion blurs and two gradated alpha channels. Well, that's how I do it - should be the same in PotatoShop  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I was talking about the post production blue "HUD" lines, not the motion blur  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Those? Those are even easier  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) PS should have some vector graphic tools in it, use those with a screen layer  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Nice render. But it sure took a hell of a long time to completely download the whole thread with two huge pictures.
