Dear God, I don't know whom to vote for. I am about ready to vote for the Green Party Canidate. I mean, if these two bozos are the best the RNC and DNC can do, Virginia is so ****ed.

RE: http://www.drudgereport.com/flashaw.htm
I'd note it's pretty easy to make things look worse than they are if you fail to provide context.... especially lines written as quotes from a character.    It's an example of the ****tiness of politics, really; this thing is basically a cut and paste 'make the opponent look a bad person' tactic, rather than 'vote for us because our policies are ace'.

In any case, I feel obliged to laugh at how pathetically childish these two candidates look.  Where do you get them from?

Oh, and - Commonwealth?

So... summarise it for the non-Americans who don't give a flying **** about intra-state politics? Please?

Commonwealth of Virginia. AKA the old dominion. The title 'Something is Rotten in state of Virginia' was to wordy. I thought commonwealth was a better title.

Yeah, these two are idiots. In all fairness, Webb started with the negative smear nonsense when he was given that little gem in the form of 'Muccaca.' The sad part about it was he gained about 5 percentage points in the opinion polls. And it has gone south from there. The worst part was that CNN was more than happy to play the Muccaca comment over and over. But Allen has been just as bad. Also I literally choke on dinner when allen said that the campaign should not be about questions of character. I remember neocons and Limbaugh raking Clinton over about his character or lack there of.

Makes me worried about this current attitude of 'think of the children!', gives it a whole new context really.....

Rather than 5 links and an obscure remark, how about what it means.

In summary,

Allen called someone a 'muccaca' on two occassions. This was caught on film and put on youtube where cable news was more than happy to broadcast it. Allen said his mother was french and she used it and he really didn't know what it meant. [it was used in the deraugatory sense to describe native non-french inhabitants of french colonies. Also I doubt the truthfullness of allen's excuse] Allen did apologize privately to the political aid in person at VCU. Then it was 'discovered' that Allen was part jewish and this is used to get the anti-semites to vote against him. Then an essay which was related to a debate over women in combat that Webb wrote that contained deraugatory remarks and had no place inside any conversation that concerns policy. Allen then had a commercial with female members of the miltary saying they were deeply offended. Then Webb was given a chance on 'meet the press' to say he was very sorry, blah blah blah. Then people came forward that accused Allen of using the 'N-word' in college. Then more people came forword to accuse the same of Webb. Now, with allen at 48% and Webb at 45%, Allen is accusing Webb of being a pedophile and adelophile and writing naughty books.

Really Inspiring, ain't it? In total, I am just so discusted with both of these canindates and these parties. Is that better?

Ooooh, politicians acting reprehensibly and soforth. This is surprising... why?

I think it's just the depths the whole thing is sinking too, I can understand why it's depressing. Our last election was pretty much like that, it was more a case of 'They'll do bad things', rather than 'We'll do good things'.

At the end of the day, I think the whole of Capitol Hill needs a shake up, I think both parties are a little too comfortable and need some shaking up, that's why I really wish there was a viable 3rd party in the states.

Because, at this point I am left no or little options as far a reasonable choice. And the same sentiment is shared among other people. WTF is happening to my country.

On a side note, I ran across this gem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Congressional_page_sex_scandal

I don't like them either. They live in a fantasy world of rugged individualism.

Every party lives in a fantasy land; liberals have the one where government isn't evil, and conservatives have the land where nothing changes.

I don't think I said anything to the contrary.

Oh, I know that.  I just enjoy any chance I get to make fun of political parties.

[stuff noone probably cares about]
Ok, so you think silly **** flinging is bad?  Look what our Judge Executive did while in office, and before holding office.

http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pr/2004/March/04_crm_164.htm

He still held office while in prison by the way.  :p

Also, shortly thereafter, they found out the local public pool that was being built by his brother's cement company was receiving quite a large sum of federal funds for the county.  To give a rough estimate, the pool was costing around two million dollars more than it should.

Shortly thereafter, he was finally relieved of his office and a local radio station owner was appointed the position.

Oh, and we had a candidate for sheriff killed a few years back as well.  There's another similar incident, but I can't find a link for it right now.
