Title: a Simple thanks guys for some amazing work.
Post by: bloated on October 31, 2006, 02:43:53 am
I just wanted to say the group has done some amazing work in this game, I just ran the training missions to get my wings along with the first real mission under the latest patches and I was in awe at the improvement.

I was playing the game last week with half the patches enabled..... my 1.6a p4 512mb ram and 9600pro video but it started dipping down to 6 frames per second so I hurriedly completed my high end comp..... this from a game that originally played very well on a PII 200 with 128mb of ram and a 16mb video card!!!

a Conroe E6600 with 2048mb DDR 2 800 and X1900 XTX soon to be totally water cooled..... currently the CPU and North bridge are water cooled but I have the GPU water block and am waiting to pick up some water wetter and some distilled water before I clean out the glycol and water mix I'm currently using.

anyway with this platform and everything maxed the game is literally beautiful in spots and runs flawless, I never imagined seeing a fully modern Sci-fi flight sim even close to as good looking as this after wasting my time playing Freelancer I was really disappointed by that peice of crap that offered no joystick support at all and was dated looking the day it was released.

as a side note the X1900 XTX fan never rose above idle speed so I believe their is plenty of performance left in the performance bank if anyone is looking to make things even more incredible.  ;7.... .

anyway truly from a prior obsessed Freespace 2 addict who owns 2 copy's of the game thanks alot for the continued support.

not to offend but with the current life support status and the most pathetic website I've ever seen in  regards to Interplay is their any speculation on how much the rights to FS would cost?

Seconded, I for some reason never thanked you guys, though i'd probably still be Fredding. It wouldn't be as shiny

I think the SCP people already have planned little something for that extra performance: shader support! ;7

Oh, and I agree that thanks are very due here. To both coders and those who utilize the excellent features producing so many intriguing moments of gameplay as well as seemingly endless stocks of constantly improving eye candy.

So, eternal thanks to developers small and big in accomplishments!

Eh, what the hell, I'll throw mine in too. Don't think I ever did thank you guys properly, except by downloading all of the different mediavp versions. ;)

Also, thanks given to the SCP codemonkies, too. :D

Indeed, kudos to you all. The game is kept up to modern graphic standards, and nearly all your non-graphics related have improved the gameplay experience or have made FREDding even easier or more flexible. :yes2: :D

Without the work being done here by very talented individuals, I would have never thought of undertaking my project that I'm working on right now.  I would probably never have the desire to make something done so well even better, so I give thanks to all who's worked on this project.

I have been spreading the good word of FS2 to my co-workers.  They are totally amazed as to how this game has matured in its SCP incarnation.  Especially with all the new graphics and the stuff, with all these explosions, it may as well be a pyromaniac's dream.....

Good work guys!!!
