Dangit, why is my connection to HLP so bad today... (http://209.85.12.236/5024/118/emo/bangwall.gif)
Anyways, I've been trying to change the firing sound (not the BeamSound/WarmUp/WarmDown) on some of my beam weapons. The problem is that, even when I'm sure that I've changed the $LaunchSnd tag to reflect the new sound entry, it still keeps defaulting to 124 in my sounds.tbl, which is beam_shot1.wav (default sounds.tbl should also be in the 124th position, since I add rather than replace sounds).
I would've posted this in the SCP area, but Inferno R1 somehow got around it for their subspace cannons (which use beam_shot2.wav), so there has to be a way (won't do much good if it only allows one extra sound to be used though). I did try looking at that mod's tables, but I'm not getting anywhere since beam_shot2.wav doesn't even appear in its sounds.tbl... At least I think so when I was using Notepad's search function... =/

Same here, Umm, Regarding your problem, I dunno, maybe TBP peeps can help you out on this

Inferno doesn't use that sound as far as I know. I looked in the VPs and found a sound file for the subspace weapon and it was a LONG charging sound that ended in that beam sound in the same file.

I ran into this problem too a few months ago. I didn't report it as it was trivial in my situation, but there is definitely something wrong with this.

So that was their workaround... would this be considered a real bug then???

If this is indeed a bug or a hardcode, it'd be appreciated if someone can Mantis it. I'm unable to make Mantis reports due to my e-mail address.

I think I found it... not sure though. In the beam weapon entry there is a $LaunchSnd: line and it has one of those beam shot sounds. Try changing that.
