Someone needs to give the guys at Campaign Watch a boot in their unmentionables! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Anyways, I'm just saying that they REALLY need to update the site, because a lot of new campaigns have been announced.
-
Hmm...I guess they do. We could do something on campaigns/mods... Don't want to copy VW though - I mean they did get that kinda done first....
-
I don't think it matters. Campaign Watch hasn't been updated since April anyway, since Remora has been AWOL or something, and Dynamo has been working on BWO I think.
So, an HLP CWatch would be a good idea, especially if updated fairly often. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Hmm, I'll throw it to the "floor"...
What do you all think? Good idea? Cheap rip off? Your the community - we just work here (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Good idea - As long as it isn't just a bunch of links to threads and stuff. I can do that on my own - it needs interviews, exclusives, etc.
-
Maybe some sort .plan feature.
-
Perhaps an automated script is in order. People would submit their entries, an HLP staffer would look them over, and they would be added to the list (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
The staffer-looking-it-over-thingy is there to prevent spammers from clogging the list with nonexistant campaigns.
-
Sounds good to me...and while we are on the subject of campaigns. Everybody here MUST play Pandora's Box over in the VW's campaign files. Ice Heart did a great job on it and I love it.
-
Well I had this thought:
We get a scipt running where the webmaster/creator of a campaign could register with us and would get a password to submit stuff. Improper use of it would result in that users access being terminated and the information he posted removed. That takes care of your spamming problem whilst removing the majority of the work for us once the systems running.
Links, news, general information, maybe some images and a download link could all be filled out to create a neat little overview of each campaign along with up to date news and so on.
-
does 'campaign' inculed 'MOD' and 'TC'?
-
The larger ones maybe...
But I want to see what people think of this first (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
I say yeah man! Woohoo! and other such things...
-
I like the idea. CWatch is dead anyway, so if the VW guys don't have anything against it, it would actually relieve them from some work...
-
hhe so is FReespacee FPS, they need to kick their buts in gear and fix it
-
C'mon, To be fair to them theres a finite amount of good people working on several large and ambitious projects. They've done a great job on TBP so far and are still keeping everything else ticking over. That said - they could update stuff more often IMO - they've got the content, they just need the time.
-
To CWatch's credit, they've done some really good work up until now, and since the place is mostly run by one person only (Dynamo), it would be fairly easy for him to get caught up in RL junk, and hence CWatch would effectively go into comatose.
Uhhh, I'll wait till Ice turns up. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
TADA!!
Right. Anyways, CWatch is pretty much going to be scrapped I think...but we're doing some work on FSW at this point and covering campaigns may just become a standard function of FSW rather than a out and out semi-Watch Network site.
The kicker is that I'm way too busy and so is everyone else. We may need to get a new updater for FSW.
-
Cool, well good luck getting things up to speed over there (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
So, no HLP Campaign section then..?
-
What would be cool would be to have a section where people can rate and review campaigns they've played themselves. Sorta like what www.Download.com ("http://www.Download.com") has for rating the files it carries.

I agree, let's do this thing!
P.S. Add mine if you do it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Hmm...We could...
Do people still want this?
-
Yes yes plllllleeeeaaaaassssseeee????? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Well, anyhow, it'll be a good boost for the community to have a new campaign watch system (i.e. no more newbies asking about such and such campaign)
-
Sounds like a good idea to me... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Hmm...We'll talk about it on the staff forum (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
