Title: New Fighter (technically a remake)
Post by: Vengence on November 04, 2006, 08:34:31 am
Some of you may remember this: http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/6310/tolerategr9.jpg (http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/6310/tolerategr9.jpg)'

I grew tired of that wierd design and so I remade it to match my other fighter's style. That means B5 style 4 engine design, my favorite.
This is the Bolt Adv Heavy Fighter. If I do release my mod then this fighter will not be in multiplayer. Despite it's size, it's too powerful. It can turn fast, accelerate rapidly, drift, strafe, ect ect. And its main weapons are 1 repeating beam cannon (You heard right. Beam Cannons!!! :headz:) and 1 anti-cap ship beam cannon. It has 4 underwing mounted missile racks as well. Beacause of its scrambler pod it is stealthy to radar and sensors. Talk about a uber ship. Only available in SP mode because it is way unbalanced. What do you all think?

I like it but those engines are too angular for me to love it.

And a little bit (~15%) too massive, IMO.

It's meant to be big. And yeah, engines are too angular but thats what I get for rushing. Coding was an a@# because I never added all new weapons. It rocked ingame, the rapid fire beam cannon fried over 23 fighters in a custom map and the heavy beam cannon did the finishing touch against a Lucifer and a Sathanas in the same map. BTW, I wasn't alone in those maps, I had like 2 wings of these fighters and somehow they were smart enough to switch to the big guns when going up against cap ships.

Part of my mod I'm doing, but I don't think it's coming soon. I also need to work on the cockpit as it SOOO gets in the way.

That's a big fighter. Is it standard issue or reserved for elite squadrons?

Also, how is your custom juggernaut going? Are you still working on it?

Hmm, the bolt is a rare and common sight at the same time. There's not many of them but they are used very often by... well whatever good pilots out there :D. I tried them out ingame too and they fight like demons! I had about 7 AIs pilot these fighters against a HUGE shivan fighter and bomber force. I think I was up against over a dozen fighters at the same time :sigh:. Well, the anti-fighter beams did the trick well, if you can keep it on target. The beam is quite powerful so once you have the enemy in your grasp then he's as good as dead. The heavy beam doesn't seem to do the trick against fighters. The long muzzle flash obscures the cockpit a little making precise aiming difficult. Also the beam can't seem to hit the target for some reason. But the big beam works wonders against cap ships :D. Also the AI is smart enought to switch to the big beams when targetting a large ship. It's a wonderful sight looking at these fighters pest a Sathanas and eventually ends up cutting it to pieces (the Sath was at 20% anyways and had a heavy cruiser and 2 destroyers pestering it in the first place).

Ahem, my Jugger has been on hold since no one wants it in a mod yet. Its all set up geometrically, all it needs is the rigging in Modelview and PCS and then its ready to be coded.

I'll take it. I'd LOVE a model, especially a juggernaut. Does it look like the fighter?

If you release the model, I'm sure someone will find a use for it later :).

Badass to the Nth-1 degree. -1 because those boxy engine pods don't really mesh with the rest of the body (well, my opinion anyway)... but otherwise it's scary nasty.

Really? I thought it looked to much like an airplane. Yeah I could change it a little, the top sillouette( :mad:SP) looked menacing.

No it doesn't look like the fighter. The fighter id for my universe and the Jugger is for the FS universe. It's already a POF so I could just upload it to Hades. But someone else will have to rig it. It DOES have like over 80 turrets.
