Title: Freespace v. FreeSpace
Post by: TopAce on November 07, 2006, 11:26:09 am
Whatever official sources I checked (The game itself, Voltion's website, and the game manual), the game's name was written as FreeSpace with this capitalization, not Freespace. Thus, we must use the FreeSpace capitalization all across the wiki. This means that the website's header and the Main Page are to be modified by default and some-one must check for all instances and correct the capitalization wherever it is improper.

I would be happy to check the articles for this, but I need someone else to change the header.

Also, I am writing this to notify other contributors not to revert these changes. There should be no consensus about this, it would be as much as the community deciding the destruction of the Colossus is non-canon.

It looks ****, though.

Ah well, I'll let the wiki fiddlers worry about pedantry.

No way of wanging a script in to change Freespace = FreeSpace across the entire site?

Whilst I agree, that post is worded like a cease & desist....

Dear God I hope not.

Getting it right is all fine and good. Putting the entire site in jeopardy to make a pointless correction is just downright stupid.

What harm does it do to the site that we change Freespace to FreeSpace?

I think the problem is the idea of running scripts, not the idea of changing it (which I think is a good idea).

None, if that's all you do.  Problem is that a script might do more than just that.......
