I have an art assignment and to do it I had to take some reference pictures. I thought someone might find them interesting though :)

Not sure what sort of aircraft this is. Very interesting though, note the twin pusher prop arrangement.

Yep - that right there is a vintage DC-3, still flying in active cargo service. Actually, this one belongs to what I believe is a very poor cargo line, which recently sold off the rest of it's fleet to Four Star Cargo - not sure what the story is, though :) (Four Star does still fly their DC-3's though, and you can see them on the taxi way right behind a 737 often enough :)).
What I actually came to take pictures of - the broken down Aztec that's been sitting there for some ten years:

And the cockpit:

And the other thing, a Cessna with a bad wing and doors that don't open :D

Could I miss a similar thread?

That aircraft is a Piaggio P.180 Avanti. But don't let its futuristic design fool you: it may be cool looking, it may have a rear-mounted wing to leave more room in the fuselage for passengers, it may be one of the fastest turboprop executives ever constructed, but remind that it's an Italian plane... :doubt: For example, the two engines are differently built, so it's painful to find the right spare part for engines in case you need to...
BTW, very cool photos!
EDIT: some years ago my father and I were used to go at the Milan Linate airport. There was a place next to a taxiway that was perfect for taking pictures at airplanes taking off and landing. Unfortunately, since 9/11 security doesn't want anybody to get near this place... :(

Wish I still had my shots from when I worked at Farnborough, there was a Canberra rigged up for target towing there, and it's the last airworthy one in the UK :)

Here are some more:
The aircraft I've been doing my flight training in - a Diamond DA-20. Fun little aircraft, if you get a chance to, do fly it. It's got a stick and is really fun (I have a picture of the cockpit as well, if anyone wants to see inside):

The DC-3 that flies with Four Star Cargo - I took this while I was waiting to take off on my first solo ride :)

Same DC-3, a few seconds prior. Beautiful shot, IMO (except for that fracking bar at the top right :():

That "strange" aircraft in the first picture is a rare Piaggio P180 Avanti II (http://www.aerospace-technology.com/projects/piaggio/ for reference). Yes, from the same motorbike manufacturer :D It's a fantastic plane to fly (i did it once). And a rare sight indeed.

LOL, I thought that cessna with the bent wing looked familiar.
ST. Croix USVI, I must have rolled past that thing a few hundred times riding with cape air.
Theres a few other oddies around too. A long-ez's parked on St. Thomas not far from an old cessna skymaster.
-
Wow, holy crap, someone else from the islands? First ever on HLP! :D You fly Cape Air? Any specific tail number? :)
And yep, I know both those planes on STT. :) The Long-EZ is still a pretty sexy aircraft in my book ;)
If you happen to be flying around the same time as me, I'm training at Bholke in a Diamond DA-20, tail number N141BB. :)

I really like this pic

even though it's broken and worn out... it looks very sleek from a face front view.

I fly cape air but I'm no pilot unfortunately. Unless you count hours from flight simulators.
I'm a regular customer for work travel, so the aircraft on the tarmac caught my eye. I flew a handful of times on Bohlke's aircraft, way back when they were still doing aeromedicals (bill, mike, fireball, and that old turbo commander you could hear coming from two islands away) but always in baggage class, lol.
I can toss in some photos from the area, but their all old till I splurge on a new camera.

Another one from the same dock, unfortunately I don't have many technical photos.

You lucky bastard! I'm dilly-dallying around in an old '78 model Cessna C-172 N. :p

The shots of that old decaying place is quite sad actually.

I love this shot, it looks great :)
Maybe if I get the time I'll head around and take some more pictures to put up :)

Well... those photos are not from a local airfield (300 kms away from my town), but anyway...
I took those photos last year during an airshow. It's a Typhoon and a Predator in the static display. I'd like to post other photos, but they suck...

Tripped over this online.
Not related to any nearby airports, but if you like fighters then you'll probably like this:

Here's some pictures from my first solo cross country :)
Flying over Vieques:

Landed at Fajardo in Puerto Rico:

Took off from Fajardo, landed back at Vieques, taxiing on to the runway:

Took off from Vieques, landed at St. Thomas - taking off from the runway:

Heading home - Ham's Bluff, St. Croix:

(I actually had to raise the camera up for this shot - I was holding it over my head. I'm so short I honestly can't see over the panel without some difficulty :D)
