:welcome:
Welcome to the recently re-modified Hard-Light Productions Bulletin Board. The worst rule you can break on our humble forums is putting the symbols S, F, and 3 in the (im)proper order. Don't go into the ductworks if you can avoid it. If you do, bring a lunch, and when you see a cluster of red glowing eyes, drop your lunch, and slowly crawl backwards. Flamethrowers are located under your seat, but due to the suckiness of our last server, they only have holy water. Be wary of the hyperintelligent shade of blue, we know next to nothing about it, other than the fact that it has stolen a few n00bs.

First: you do have all the media vp's right? If not, get them here. (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,39905.0.html)
If that doesn't work, check your speech settings in the launcher. See if you can't get a Windows Voice to play the files. MS Sam may mispronounce many things, but he's better than no speech at all.

I'd bet money that this is due to not having OpenAL (http://developer.creative.com/articles/article.asp?cat=1&sbcat=31&top=38&aid=46) installed (properly or at all).

I downloaded the pack by ShivanSpS, not wanting to download all the seperate files again for my retail FS2 after a reformat. Installed OpenAL with that (and seperately after reading this), and I still dont get music either in briefing or in game. Voices work just fine in all cases though.

I suspect that may be the other part of the problem.

Thanks for welcome:)
I just dropped 5.5.0 Launcher, 3.6.9 exe's and latest mv files in my FS2 folder, it was fine for 3.6.7 and mv's from scp.indiegames.us.
Seems that karajorma is right -- I did not install OpenAL. I'll try it now.

Thanks, OpenAL helped, everything now works fine.

Moving those files from system32 to my Freespace folder worked, I have music now . Thanks for the help.
