Title: Force Feedback XP issue
Post by: Styphelus on November 10, 2006, 09:33:23 am
I'm running Shivan's great FS package and everything runs great except for the force feddback on my Logitech Wingman Force 3D.

The only way to get the FF working is if I set the game to run in windows 2000 compatibility mode. Only problem is that my system becames a bit unstable after running the game in compatibility mode.

I tried other games in compatibility mode and everything is fine. This only happens with freespace for some reason.

Anyway, my question is if there is a solution to get Force Feedback without using the compatibility mode.

Also, is Shivan's pack the best package out there? Or is there anything else I should add to it that can make the game better? I'm actually quite happy with the game itself but i always see posts with extra stuff and I'm never sure if I should be modifying my game or not.

If Shivan hasn't already put these in...

Get DEM (http://www.geocities.com/ipw47/dem.html), JAD (http://www.game-warden.com/narfin/jad.html), and JAD2 (http://www.game-warden.com/narfin/jad2.html). The three greatest comedy campaigns in FreeSpace.

If you're into spooky campaigns, I'd also recomend Transcend (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,34098.0.html).

Have you checked Kara's FAQ?  Unfortunately, I don't have a link.  Search for him; the link is in his sig.

And always mod FS2 with the things you find.  I'd recommed Inferno but you need to patch it to get it to work with SCP.  There are some updated Media VPs around here somewhere too.  Might want to check the FSU forums if you wanna make your game pretty.

This is odd. I'm not having any problem with force feedback and I'm using the same stick.

Are you having issues in FS2 Retail or SCP? If so which build are you using? ShivanSPS's 1.9c pack is the most recent one I believe.

I'm using ShivanSPS's 1.9c pack in windows XP Pro. Force feedback won't work unless I run it in windows 2000 compatibility.

It works fine in any other game, except FS.

I haven't tried the retail version, only ShivanSPS's pack ver 1.9c.

First make sure that you have ticked the force feedback option in the launcher's joystick tab.

Then if you are launching via the profiler try running without it.

Still no luck. Guess I'll just have to run it in compatibility mode.
