Somebody hit me if this already has been done. :nervous:
Describe your flagship on this forum, what it's carrying, weapons, stats, special equipment, etc. I think I heard that Kal possesses an Orion double-parked somewhere at the HLP station. Judging by some of the minds here, we're gonna have some crazy warships floating around for miles. And don't hold back on the details, get crazy with it! Offer a pic if you can. Go!! (still need time to think about my own.)
EDIT: Forgot to mention- if it has a name, I'd be glad to hear it.

Standard Deimos Corvette, outfitted with MGreens rather than TerSlashes.
-
Damn you Mars, that's MY ship!!!
Still, a Deimos-class Corvette, with Inferno strength beams and Railguns mounted on the front quarters....
Plus, where there's a gap on the top of the 'vette, put in a fighter-bay that can house only 3 wings (Deimos-class Corvettes are essentially anti-figher, so don't need much of an escort).

This "little" jewl (that is supposed to appear in Chapter 3 of my campaign)
(http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/3733/fesbbannereh3.th.jpg) (http://img70.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fesbbannereh3.jpg)
(crappy and old pic, the effects are terrible..)
Post-Capella battleship, armed with 4 LRBGreens, 9x2 Ionized Plasma Cannons, 4 Nova missile Launchers and 1x2 Meson Missile Launcher + a whole horde of flak guns and gattling guns (around 40 or 50)

Warning---Extremely Detailed
Maybe I shoulda been more specific with this. The choice of vessel does not have to be limited to Freespace only ships, this can be a Sharlin, or Star Destroyer or anything else you can think of. Having said that, here is mine. It took me quite a while to pick one out:
The TTBC Night Terror. It is a drastically redesigned Star Trek Nemesis Scimitar. First, the warp drive is non-existent, and has been replaced with a standard subspace drive (I always like subspace better), and the standard drive is instead based on the principles of a Minbari gravitic drive. Second, it does not carry shields or a zomfg planet killing weapon. The cloaking device is present, but can only be active for two minutes at max, and weapons cannot be engaged while it is on. Third, it's maneuverability is limited to that of a standard corvette. It is after all about 950 meters long and 1500 meters across. Finally, the armament consists of the following: 10 anti-fighter Plasma Cannons, situated all over the ship, 6 forward and 2 rear mounted Plasma Beam Cannons, 2 wing mounted Plasma Assault Cannons, one under mounted strontium clad nuclear missile launcher with five rounds, and one forward mounted Subspace Disruptor Beam, a weapon based on Shivan principles that fires a miniaturized unstable terminating subspace corridor at its target. The very small fighterbay can only hold 4 Pegasus stealth fighters, so not much help there. The whole ship is powered by a reactor based on Shivan energy principles, and is the only way it can maintain it's firepower. I intended for the ship to be a forward assault vessel that can provide the forward firepower of a BFRed at a fraction of the size. :pimp:
I like TrashMan's though, I seem to remember having that model somewhere.
EDIT: Upgraded
-
I like TrashMan's though, I seem to remember having that model somewhere.
LOL..thanks.. I've put version 1 for download on HC a while ago, but version 2 is more detailed and better textured, and I might put that for DL too :D

U.S.S. Sulaco
2nd Batt., 9th Regt. United States Colonial Marines
A Conestoga-class starship, the Sulaco has a mass of 78,000 metric tons and length 385 meters. She's primarily a troop carrier, having been originally designed as a troop & logistics transport and subsequently converted into a rapid-response military transport. Sulaco carries two UD4L dropships and has sufficient life support capabilities for 90 crew and passengers. In an emergency, as many as 2,000 troops can be placed in hibernation in the main cargo hangars.
Armaments include:
* Eight long-range ASAT missiles fired from the dorsal launch bay.
* Two forward-firing 800 MeV Neutral Particle Beam weapons, which can disable the electronics systems of
enemy spacecraft out to a range of 100,000 km.
* Four (two twin turrets, one dorsal, one ventral) Kinetic Energy Railguns.
* Two 80 MW point-defence lasers for vaporizing incoming missiles and kinetic energy rounds.
* Ventral mine dispenser, with a magazine of up to 60 orbital fragmentation mines.
* Up to 80 guided re-entry vehicles including bunker buster, high-explosive, and nuclear warheads.
* 20 decoy ballutes and two maneuverable decoy drones in after ventral bay.
She is powered by a 3.6 terawatt fusion reactor using high density lithium hydride for fuel. Sublight propulsion is provided by four GF-2400 rocket motors using industrial carbon-diamond as reaction mass. FTL propulsion is provided by a hyperdrive tachyon shunt, with a maximum speed of 0.74 light years per sidereal day. The Sulaco's hull panels are constructed from radar absorbing material, which reduces the ship's radar cross section to low levels.

Oh, non-Freespace cap ships..
Definitely the POA:

 Ooooh!! Halcyon class battlecruisers are so nice! Good choice! Any special name of your own for that?
-
My personal starship?
A Spathi Eluder.
Never know when I might have to run away from The Ultimate Evil! :shaking:
-
Everyone loves a good Star Control reference.
Although my preference would have to be for the Chmmr Avatar, of course.
-
Here's my flagship...
Because the ship I was on was blown away by the Kilrathi. :D
-
Mine would be an uber-leeterised version of the Pyro-GX.
The only thing it can't do is destroy a planet, or any other task of similar (or greater) gargantuan scale. It has the capability, but not the methods (think FS1 when the Ancients video mentioned the Luci and its shields)... so if it was further modded by engineers and stuff (e.g. swap the weapon loadouts), it can pretty much wreck the *TOOOOT*ing *toooot* out of anything and everything, I guess...
I got the idea through the Descent 2 outtro and the Descent 3 intro. Strange as it might be, I really felt for that old ship. I was like, "noooo... it's going to die... it's going to die... never!!! it will survive teh scorching heat of the stars!!! the ever invincible fighter for a pilot of the highest order!!! (a.k.a. Alpha 1/some loser-turned-hero/yadda yadda) grAAAAARRRRRR!!!"
That's about it.

An Aeolus Modfied with two Usilv and the rest anti-fighter beams
Also would have the lucifer's inpenatrable shields

An Anuket. **** all of you metagamers. :p

Metagame: Icanus. Nothing screams "Phear me!" more than a 25K ship that is essentially built around a big beam cannon.
Otherwise, the Hecate, just because it looks flagship-y. Though it still is pretty weak.
-
Deimos that is modified to keep three Erinyes fighters in the special hangar.
Has the power to neutralize any ship in FS ever, even the Sathanas if it is tactically deployed.
-
I have the flying toaster. It is indestructable and has a deadly attack. The ammo is in very large supply and costs about .02¢ to make (including the energy bill). It is a very cramped vessel, however, requiring the users to pass through the shrink beam.

Actually, i want a Fairground ride powered by a circuitboard that some speccy kid dreamed up in the movie Explorers, It has ludicrous speed. Plonk in an infinate improbability drive and i'm sold :D
-
RPDS Albatros, Peregrine Class Dispatch Frigate in the Pegasus Republic Fleet
Length = 98m
Decks = 6
Crew = 35 (6 Officers, 29 enlisted), Space for up to 18 passengers
Speed = Sublight Standard Acceleration = 8g, Maximum Emergency Acceleration = 13.6 g
Jump efficiency = 0.99875
Armament =
- 2 Forward Pointed Ion Beam Cannons
- 6 Firestorm Ship to Ship Torpedo Launchers
- 4 Plasma Charge Launchers
- 6 Turreted KE Cannons
- 8 Omnidirectional Point Defense Cannons
Fighter Capacity = None
Hangar Bay Space = Space for two shuttles, Typically only equipped with one to allow room to receive other shuttles.
The Peregrine Class Dispatch Frigate is an older design, among the oldest still seeing active service in the Protectorate navy, as well as in the armed forces of almost all smaller nations, but regular upgrades have allowed most of these ships to hold their own against more modern altrernatives. Designed as a faster than light message and dispatch carrier, the Peregrine's light armament is offset by its extreme speed and reputation for toughness.
When not ferrying messages, these vessels are often used as inter stellar or inter planetary transports for high ranking or important individuals who need to move from place to place in a hurry.
And, the pic. Apologies for the low polyness - I have a high poly version, but it's saved as a .max rather than a .3ds, so I can't access it until I get another copy of Max installed.

I liked your first entry better. Very cool looking vessel.
And in light of the stuff I'm seeing pop up around here, the Night Terror has received a slight upgrade. :drevil: :D
-
Fair enough, confederate vessel FTW.
In lieu of the crew to operate the Concordia, the Wolfhound can be pretty self regulating. So i chose it :D
screw the Tigers Claw, admiral Banbridge is hard as nails.....

Hmm... as my back-up flaghips I choose this one :

Excellent choice, too bad I didn't think of that one... come to think of it, I still haven't thought of one.

UEG Spartan, UE-300. Helm Class Destroyer
Once a top ship of the line, the Helm class has been replaced by newer and more powerful ships. often used as picket vessels at jump points.
The Helm class ships served with distinction in the Confederation wars in both the United Earth Navy and The Colonial Confederation Fleet. Historians credit it as the last destroyer designed for the whole of Humanity, as its replacements are being designed for exclusive use by one of the two superpowers. The most famous Helm was the UEG Samurai, which in the Battle of Vega was briefly commanded by the Legendary Admiral Starling. Starling's command ship, UEG Nightfall, had been previously damaged and unable to join the battle. with the Samurai, Starling successfully defeated the CCF, only to lose the system two months later.
UEG Spartan served the UEN second battle group as its flagship for 4 years. Commanded by Admiral Adrian Johnson, the Spartan was moderately successful in a number of engagements. unfortunately, its career was cut short by the launch of the Broad Sword Class Heavy Cruisers, which filled a similar role at a much lower operating cost. Too new to simply retire, UEG Spartan was given a major overhaul, and sent to guard The Gates of Leoniadas, which was the space between binary planets in a highly deadly Pulsar system, with the Gate being the only safe spot for a rest point between the two jump points at either end of the gap. positioned in between the Colonial Confederation and UEG space, it is an underused passageway to the heart of UEG space.
This ship, previously mentioned in my Theories of Starship Design thread, is the basis for a class project based on the above scenario,, a retelling of before the Battle of Thermoplyae. the design is based on a helmet. Pictures and animation will be forth coming.
All work is to be done in Maya 8, AE7 and Photoshop CS2.

I peronsally like the idea of an orion modifed with BVas and Vslash beams myself. That or a hecate armed simarilarly.

*Mega-Maid*
Ship is too big. If I walk, the movie will be over. ;)

big ship in the middle.

is that ship supposed to be gigas to gargant sized?

Nice drawing... how long did it take you to make that? I didn't know Microsoft Paint could be so cool!

GTVA 3rd Fleet Headquarters during Dunkerque, looking for my bunny toy.
Was escargot before I made it to Lambda 2.

It's a bit bigger than the Iceni.
-
bigger than the Iceni...scary
-
bigger than the Iceni...scary
Why is that scary? It's not like the Iceni's very big.
-
Okay, excact measurements:
903.742 meters
not sure how big that relativly is.
-
Less than one klick = small :p
My flagship: Perfectly spherical, no obvious front or back or top or bottom... with beam cannons on each face. It's about two klicks in diameter.
What's with ships having ups and downs and fronts and backs anyway? This is space, after all! In my mind: the SphereShip is the ideal destroyer!
(and no, I was not thinking of the Borg Sphere when I thought this up)
-

If it's perfectly spherical, how can it have faces? :P
(and no, I was not thinking of the Borg Cube when I thought this up)
Don't you mean Borg Sphere? :P
-
I wonder if I'm the only one who chose a fighter as a flagship.
:nervous:
-

Well, I didn't know what else to call them? :D
You know what I meant (I hope :nervous:).
Don't you mean Borg Sphere? :P
Yes! :p
Oops...fixed.

I wonder if I'm the only one who chose a fighter as a flagship.
:nervous:
nope.
It's not even close to done, but when I finish it, I'll be flying this Terran/Iixxan hybrid bomber:
This ship is a hacked-together combination of Iixxan propulsion and primary weapons with Terran shields, hull strength, and secondaries. It uses a pair of bomb pods (not shown) to hold high-yield bombs, which are jettisoned when empty.
-
You know what? I'd actually have an argo pimped out into an awesome sweet space yacht. It'd like, have everything. and it'd have a whole bunch more turrets with AAAfs and maxims and flaks. It'd be amazing.
-
If you way over-powered it's beams, a Fenris-class Cruiser
-
The Fenris would suck if it had a BFGreen, it might get one shot off but a stray Medusa colliding with it would bring it down.
-
My IDeal FS craft would Definately be the SOBEK after sending it to West Sector Rides to be pimped with a playboy mansion style interior.
-
Dart from Escape Velosity Nova.
-
Probably this (http://www.sectorgame.com/aldo/media/gtd_carrier.jpg).. :)
-
The MegaMaid would vacuume that one in an instant :D
*she went from suck to blow*

Probably this (http://www.sectorgame.com/aldo/media/gtd_carrier.jpg).. :)
looks like a plasma rifle....

Inferno Destroyer, begins with T, cant quite remember..........

Tereus...

*Looks at Aldos pic again* Thats a quite unique design, no worries.

I wonder if I'm the only one who chose a fighter as a flagship.
:nervous:
To be fair, the topic says "describe your flagship," not "describe your personal fighter."
Tereus...
That's not a Tereus.
-
Probably this (http://www.sectorgame.com/aldo/media/gtd_carrier.jpg).. :)
looks like the bastard child of an orgy between a Zeypherus, Triton, Faustus, and a Hippocrates. Me like.

:ick: ,all those nasty ships....

One of the last two of these would be an ideal flagship for me, though:

a FINISHED DEATH STAR from Star Wars Episode 6

I love the smooth lines of an ancient Squid Carrier (http://thefatwebsite.rabidcarrot.com/akrotiri.jpg) for my personal chariot.
-
That was one of Bob's ships for the Ancients that eventually became Vasudan IIRC. (Forgot about it... kinda wish I didnt click that link)
-
Probably this, but with a reinforced bridge so there's no suicidal A-Wing problems.
-
Executor FTW!
-
To be fair, the topic says "describe your flagship," not "describe your personal fighter."
Point taken.
Still think it'd be a flagship for me though. I'd rather leave the maintenance, crew morale, salaries and other whatnot associated with a full-on flagship to someone I can trust.
And lead its fighter wings instead. :) Or fight solo, since I chose something too über anyway... :blah:
-
Executor FTW!
or the Lusankya, but I wouldn't want a ship that was hidden ------------------. (I don't wanna spoil it), but it was a SSD.
beh, Super Star Destroyers were TOO BIG! That thing would take forever to maneuver and wouldn't make a very good ship because of all the resources squished together in a really nice bulls-eye-target.
-
Executor FTW!
or the Lusankya, but I wouldn't want a ship that was hidden ------------------. (I don't wanna spoil it), but it was a SSD.
Come on people, If you're going to do Star Wars, at least go for Centerpoint Station (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Centerpoint). Cross-galaxy Supernovas FTW!
-
If I could choose a fighter, which I can't, the Sun Crusher... ;7
-
I'd say the Sun Crusher qualifies as just *slightly* better than a figter (yes, I do know how big it is).
If you're going with Star Destoryers, go with the Errant Venture.
Pluses: Custom paint job and a really big gun on the bow (stripped down version of the Eclipse's cannon).
-
That was one of Bob's ships for the Ancients that eventually became Vasudan IIRC. (Forgot about it... kinda wish I didnt click that link)
it was included in Inferno R1 as an ancient carrier

WEll i chose a crossbreeding between the Andromeda the whi star ships in babylon 5 a Hecate and a a battlestar like Galactica.
Give it 3 forward facing BG 1 in the rear and 2 on the sides. Give it at least 40 missile/bommb launchers. The abilaty to lauch up to 24 fighters/bommbers at once lots of rail turrets to provide a perfect aaaf defence aroun the ship at a range of 2000 meters . And hell even ifyou cann not use your beam cannons you still have your bomb/torpedo/missile launchgers and all those rail turrets to just about the same amount of damage.
Oh equip it with an AI that has an automated defence force consisting of some 24 fighter drones.
-
Galactica. Simple, with Instantaneous subspace jumps!
-
How about an Elysium? With an ML-16 turret?
And Invulnerability...
-
Coalition Spaceworks B-1 Indomitable.

Of all sci fi ships I think none has the majesty of the GTD Orion. Yet its weapons have always been severely underpowered for such a commanding ship, so my GTD Orion would be something special. Its name would be the GTD Orion Upgrade and what on most orions are those annoying big fat slow green lasers would be rapid fire long range flag guns, and all Terslashes would be replaced with Bgreens. It would carry 20 wings of TIE Interceptors, 10 wings of Viper Mark 7s, 10 wings of Pegasus interceptors, 10 wings of Ursa bombers, 5 wings of A wings, and 5 wings of Cylon raiders.
-
In that case, I'll make do with an Azrael with 3 BFReds, invincibility and speeds of 200 m/s.... As well as a super hangar capable of launching 999 Mara fighters.
-
Sheesh, everyone's changing their ship all of the sudden. :P
Well, I'm not. I'll stick with the ol' Aurora even if you all suddenly hop into black-hole launching galaxy-crushing unstoppable death machines.
-
If one could give me the independence to choose, i'd choose a Vorlon Planet Killer. More than 45 km long with 3,000+ billion metric tonnes of mass, this behemoth can decimate an entire planet's surface in 12 hours. Not to mention organic hull plating, shields, and the fleet that it always carries with (thousands of Star Dreadnoughts, Cruisers and countless fighters...). This one is really big... :)
However, in FS universe, i'd rather choose a Hecate class like the GTD Aquitaine...
-

Anyways...you had to be an ubermunchkin. We can't have that here. :p Eat Tachyon Projection Cannon and die!
Coalition Spaceworks B-1 Indomitable
Main Battery: 13 Confederacy Naval Weapons Foundry Mk X Heavy Tachyon Projection Cannon
DP Battery: 64 Coalition Weapons Mk VIc “Super 127” 127mm Railguns
AAS Battery: 328 Confederacy Arms Mk V Particle Beam Cannon
Point Defense Battery: 24 Stely Systems Mk III CIWS Batteries
Embarked Aerospace Wing: 36 Saar F-9G Peregrine, 12 Colonies Manfacturing A-12D Raptor, 6 Colonies Manfacturing A-19C Roc, 6 Mk XV Essay (Shuttle, Atmospheric). In the event of an emergency or when undertaking independent operations up to 36 more fightercraft and three more small craft can be embarked.
Indomitable is one-of-a-kind, the Coalition of Worlds' only capital craft they have constructed themselves to date; their three CVs, other battleship, and battlecruiser are all hand-me-downs from the Confederacy of Terra. The ship has come to symbolize the new unity, strength, and prosperity of the CW. Though of necessity many of its weapons and and electronics were purchased from the Confederacy, the ship retains a distinctly Coalition design.
At 2 kilometers long Indomitable is on the small side for a battleship, but those who underestimate it do so at their peril; Indomitable’s sheer resilence is second only to a dreadnaught-sized vessel, as it makes use of the standard Coalition backup set of shield generators: enemies must knock Indomitable’s shields out twice. The generators themselves are the same Aguirre DS-4 models being fitted to the Confederacy’s new Jutland-class. The armor is of Coalition manufacture, ceramisteel and aligned crystal-fiber laminate, and equal to that of any battleship in service with the anticoreward powers.
The ship’s weapons are partly Coalition and partly Confederacy manufacture. The main battery is composed of the best tachyon projection cannon that the Confederacy can manufacture, thanks to the Coalition’s longtime alliance with the larger nation. It similarly uses Confederacy second-generation particle beam cannons for its anti-aerospace batteries, mounted in Confederacy-issue quad turrets but making use of the Coalition’s XR-1 fire control system. Secondary battery is composed of the new “Super 127” Coalition Weapons railguns; these models improve upon the “127” and “127 Plus” with more efficent superconducting electromagnets to reduce the power needs of the mount, and have improved rates of traverse and elevation from more powerful servos. The 127 series had always been intended as a first-line AAS defense, but previous models grew ineffective inside three or four kilometers due to poor elevation and traverse rates. The new Super 127s do not totally eliminate the problem, but perform much better. They have also proved capable of startling sustained rates of fire, much in excess of the manufacturer's specifications, and this has been decisive in several engagements. The point-defense battery of Stely Systems CIWS weapons uses combination missile-cannon batteries, each of which contains four separate launcher/gun mounts. To date the Stely Systems combination point defense system has proved nearly impossible to overcome, as the combination missile-gun system thwarts tactics designed to spoof one kind of point defense or the other.
Indomitable’s standard embarked aerospace complement is smaller than is normal for a battleship in service with one of the major powers, but her considerably greater AAS batteries help to compensate. Coalition doctrine has long held that ship’s guns are for defense: fightercraft are offensive weapons. Indomitable carries two squadrons (36) of F-9G medium fighters and an attack squadron, two thirds medium and the remainder heavy attack craft. She also has six Essay shuttles aboard as standard. She has provision to carry nearly twice this number of fighters, but not the supplies aboard to support that number for more than two weeks.
Endurance is Indomitable’s real failing, an inescapable one considering the constraints of size placed upon her and the desire to produce a first-rate combat ship. She carries approximately enough supplies for three and a half weeks of operations; comparable ships from the major powers tend to be able to operate for twice as long. Indomitable’s incomplete sister ship Invincible and the planned sister Impervious are to be modified to remove some of the extra fightercraft space for more expendibles storage.
Indomitable’s first engagement came when the Coalition sent her on a supposed shakedown cruise across Confederacy space from the Coalition to the border with the New Colonies Federation. As major trading partners of the NCF, the Coalition gave Indomitable a second, secret set of orders: locate and destroy the Kittaran task force that had been harrasing shipping to the NCF. Further impetus was provided by the Confederacy’s traditional protection and assistance to Coalition. For a hundred and fifty years the Confederacy had been all that stood between the Coalition and invasion, natural disaster, and at least twice total social and economic collapse. Now that the Coalition could stand upon its own two feet, the time had come to repay their debts. The Confederacy was preoccupied with the newly militant Council of Independent Worlds and could not devote as much strength as it would have liked to the same task assigned Indomitable and its escorting destroyers.
The Battle of New Saipan began when two Kittaran destroyer squadrons and a light cruiser division attacked a Confederacy destroyer squadron escorting a convoy of merchant craft. The result was a classic meeting engagement as both sides deployed progressively larger forces in an effort to gain superiority. Ultimately the Kittarans thought they had trumped the Confederacy forces when they deployed what was thought to be their flagship, a Serpent-class battleship. The Serpent, however, was countered by the brand-new Jutland-class battleship CTS Trafalgar. When the Serpent shunted its portside shields to reinforce its faltering starboard shields, an unengaged Confederacy destroyer squadron forced it to manuver radically by launching torpedos against its unshielded side. The Serpent’s manuvering briefly exposed an unshielded portion of the ship to Trafalgar’s twelve heavy tachyon projection cannons. The Kittaran battleship payed the price for its class’ notorious lack of armor protection when its antimatter fuel storage was hit, lost containment, and detonated. The battle would seem to have gone to the Confederacy at that point, but then the Kittarans deployed a second battleship.
The second was part of what would soon become known as the Ravager class. It mauled the Trafalgar before the Confederacy battleship could get off its third salvo at the newcomer and totally annihilated a heavy cruiser division that tried to support the reeling Confederacy battleship. The Trafalgar turned to flee, but in her damaged condition the Ravager made steady gains. Trafalgar’s captain had ordered “Abandon Ship” and prepared to come about for one final salvo exchange when the Indomitable, making a risky precision reversion from FTL, interposed itself between the pursuing Ravager and the badly damaged Trafalgar.
Indomitable turned to port and presented her broadside to the oncoming Ravager at a range of only twenty kilometers, achieving a classic crossing of the T, but to little apparent effect in the first salvo. The Ravager also turned to port and the two ships spent the next thirteen minutes circling and exchanging fire. The Ravager had more powerful but fewer tachyon projectors and the Indomitable’s secondary battery output made the Ravager’s meager secondary fire pale in comparision. Over the course the engagement Indomitable’s secondaries were to fire over ten thousand rounds. Several times during the course of the engagement the two ships passed close enough that Indomitable’s AAS guns could also effectively engage, and her AAS batteries dwarfed the Kittaran’s.
The two ships exchanged twenty-nine main battery salvos, with the Indomitable scoring the equivalent of twenty and a half salvo hits and the Ravager scoring twenty. Indomitable’s secondaries and AAS battery totally dominated their respective classes in the engagement. Thanks to her backup shield generators Indomitable sustained only two salvo hits to her actual hull; the Ravager sustained six and a half. Indomitable lost two secondary and ten AAS turrets; the Ravager lost two of her six main battery blisters and an unknown number of secondary and AAS blisters.
Ultimately the sixth salvo hit on the Ravager’s hull destroyed something the ship needed, and it lost realspace manuvering power. The Ravager attempted a jump to escape, but it had sustained too much structural damage and did not survive the stresses of warp entry. Since that date Indomitable has destroyed a pair of Kittaran Serpent-class battleships and several smaller Kittaran craft as a part of the Confederacy’s Operation Clean Sweep to remove the remaining Kittaran raiding forces.

Saar F-9G Peregrine
The F-9G is not by any standards a new ship, with the original F-9A having entered service twenty years ago, but the G model is of recent vintage (year and a half old) and well-equipped to take on modern medium fighters. With a new powerplant, uprated manuvering thrusters, improved electronics, and its old triple high-output lasers replaced by new Confederacy Arms second-generation particle beam cannon, the F-9G is a great improvement from the F-9E model it replaced, and puts the Coalition’s fighter arm on an even footing with that of major powers.
Colonies Manufacturing A-12D Raptor
The A-12D is a modified version of the New Colonies Federation’s A-12B Raptor attack ship. Like its cousins it has a high number of hardpoints and only two cannons, both lasers of decent but not impressive power output. It relies on missiles in combat, and is able to unleash an impressively large number from its sixteen hardpoints. The adaptablity of hardpoints instead of built-in missile tubes like those found on Confederacy fighters are what endeared the Coalition to the attack ship; in addition to missiles it can carry gun pods, extra fuel, “buddy” refueling stores, and EW gear, allowing it to serve in a multitude of roles. The D model uses slightly less sophisticated, but more reliable and easier to maintain, electronics when compared to the Federation B model.
Colonies Manfacturing A-19C Roc
The Roc is the heavy attack ship of the New Colonies Federation, a two-man craft; it carries two first-generation particle beam cannon and no less than twenty-two hardpoints, of which four are reinforced to mount medium-scale capital ship-to-ship missiles. While its manuverablity is greatly degraded by such a heavy load (generally mounting anything else at the same time as the large missiles is anthema to the pilots of this ship, as it makes the Roc handle like a beached whale) this makes it a capable bomber when it can get close enough to the target. In more normal configurations it can carry a wide variety of weapons and equipment, serving in a multitude of roles. The A-19C model in service with the Coalition of Worlds differs from the A-19B used by the NCF in making use of the Rolls 229 fuzial engine, giving it better fuel efficency. The NCF is expected to begin upgrading its -19Bs to the C standard within six months.

I'd be more impressed if it didn't look like he took all that was good and holy of warship design, both real and scifi, put it in a blender, and set it on puree.
The Mk 15 CIWS Phalanx turrets are straight copies. The flight pod (which by the way scream Galactica) guns may be straight copies of the British 4.5"/45 QF Mk III (and Mk II BD mounting), I can't get a good enough look at them to see, but they are at least heavily derivative. The centerline and conning tower lighter guns are either direct copies or heavily derivative of Italian Navy 6"/53 mounts, and like their progenitors probably have dispersion problems due to the closeness of the guns. The conning tower has obvious AEGIS SPY-1 radar influences, and equally obvious Western battleship conning tower influences, but shows the amateur's misappreciation of the actual height of these structures. (The Japanese built high conning towers, but had "greenhouse" upper levels. Western-style towers were lower and longer.) The VLS system is the only thing that shows a degree of both realism and originality.
Your flagship is the misbegotten child of a mind which cannot seemingly do something original.

My flagship, the HMS Peleus, is, by FreeSpace standards, a destroyer-sized ship. Representing the first Koopa foray into space, this state-of-the art warship takes influence from the older Morton-class airships and their ancestors, the seven superairships built for the Koopalings to enforce the total seizure of power in the Mushroom Kingdom. She is therefore made mostly of wood, taking a ship-like design, and relies primarily on more conventional weaponry than newly-developed and untested beam and laser technology.
She retains some propellers, intended for atmospheric flight, though they almost never see use, having been necessarily superseded by an aft cluster of rocket thrusters, supported by thrusters dispersed around the ship.
Armament includes several small swivel cannons located at various points on the ship. These serve in anti-fighter and anti-warship roles, firing metal cannonballs whose diameter is equal to about a quarter of the Hercules' length. As you can imagine, these cannons are capable of incredible damage to a naked hull, though their effectiveness is greatly reduced against energy shielding. Also located in a few places are omnidirectional Bullet Bill launchers, upgraded with tracking equipment and thrusters to meet the new threat of fighters. In the place of flak guns are cannons firing standard Bob-omb ordnance, which when detonated results in an absolutely lethal spread of shrapnel. For anti-warship use, the Peleus is armed with several medium cannons on large swivel mounts, firing metal spheres the size of a Hercules fighter. (think real-life battleship turrets with huge cannonballs). These can smash through a corvette with ease. For the most resilient of foes, the Peleus is outfitted with two large fixed-mount cannons. These fire absolutely huge metal spheres capable of smashing a destroyer with only a few shots. However, these are to be used as a last resort; a Peleus can not carry much ammunition. For the sake of using the new technology, one beam weapon is included on the bottom of the ship, approximately the power of a Terran SGreen, though it consumes more than double the power needed to fire an SGreen and is prone to failure.
The crew consists of a variety of races, though maintenance crews consist largely of Dry Bones; they do not need spacesuits.
The Peleus is not without her share of weaknesses. Though her weapons are difficult to take out, as they contain little electronics, almost all anti-warship weapons are located on the deck, towards the top of the ship, leaving the bottom undefended except by an unreliable and low-power beam cannon. Bombs take a heavy toll on the primarily wooden hull, though it is more resilient than one might expect. All in all, her anti-capship armament is superior to that of the GTVA, but it relies on ammunition. Her fighterbay is empty; no fighters have been retrofitted or developed for space travel. She remains a fine ship.

Crappy reskin job, stupidly refitted weapons just for the purpose of making it insanely powerful? What's not to love?
Everything.
You are the kind of person who I loathe passionately, the kind of person who haunts my days and nights admining for the NR.org fiction section, inflicting up on me the drivel you call writing.
Whether I choose to call it serty, munchie, or just overpowered for stupid reasons, it's all the same. It's all "because it's cool!". It's all because you want cooler toys. It's all because you want those cooler toys to belong to you (hence the new faction it belongs to). It's all refusal to actually think. It's all crap.
I come here, I play Freespace, to get away from this ****. To visit a place where I don't have Mary Sue, Gary Stu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Sue), and their friends overruning and trampling upon a world I've come to enjoy.

oh my god, continue to flame but its here and i dont see what you want. give it a rest. its not going to go anywhere is it?

Although I'm still fond of the GTD Raynor, there is something about the lines of Strattcomm's Titan that just appeals to me.
(http://darius.rabidcarrot.com/tn_titan.jpg) (http://darius.rabidcarrot.com/titan.jpg)
GTD Titan
As a next-generation destroyer, the GTD Titan is capable of holding more fightercraft than any other Alliance vessel in service. Recent combat deployments show the Titan's capabilities as being comparable to the Hatshepshut class of destroyers. The Titan makes use of long-range torpedoes as armament to soften up enemy assets before moving into range of her main cannons. Titan destroyers are formidable and powerful tools of Terran achievement and pride.
-
Pretty. Where can I get that ship? I haven't heard of it before now.
-
i would like to add this ship to technology nemesis campaign.
-
Looks like it could have been one of Stratcomm's designs.
-
It's a carrier he did a while back which was going to be part of his ship pack. It wasn't officially released but there's a download link somewhere on HLP...can't remember where exactly.

My first post btw :D
My ship: The massive Yamato-Class Battlecruiser (YCBC) Hope.
Historical: The name was inspired by the feared Yamato-Class. Measuring 263m in overall, the Yamato was the largest sea-faring warship ever constructed.
Her massive armament composed of:
Nine 46 cm (18.1 inch) guns mounted on three towers,
Twelve 15.5 cm (6.1 inch) guns mounted on 4 towers,
and another twelve 12.7 cm (5 inch) guns mounted on 6 towers.
These 33 (!) main ship-to-ship guns were also capable of heavy coastal bombardement - usually with catastrophic results.
The yamato also carried 24 25mm AA guns, and another 4 13mm AA guns.
Now the history wrap around the Starship:
A few years before the Hope was constructed, the Terran Council spanned a mighty territorry of multiple galaxies, namely: The sattelite Galaxy of Canis Major, Virgo Stellar, Saggitarius and - of course - the Milky way. All this massive colonialization could occur with no alien interference. Occasional riots be hindered by massive amounts of happy-keeping. Should still a riot occur, they could quickly put to peace with the weapon technologys.
However the terran council never put much effort in weapon research.
It would eventually mean serious trouble.
In 2543, multiple faster-then-light messages reached the Alpha Centauri system(due to the inhabitancy of earth at this point because of the sun turning into a red giant). All these messages were distress calls. A few outposts in the Saggitarius galaxy were under heavy fire, and the few kinetic weapons Terran ship's had almost would'nt harm the invaders. Command established a voice connection to Outpost Lincoln, the largest of them all.
"Listen, I don't have time for formalities! We are under heavy attack! We've never seen this kind of ships before, but these capital monsters are far more advanced then ours.
It even seems these fighters seem to have shields like our Frigates (a small-scale 'half-capital'-ship)! I know that you don't have time to send reinforcements, but know that, if you dont IMMEDIATELY get new weapons, the whole Mankind will be doo-!"
This was the last message ever heard of the entire northern part of Saggitarius.
As even more messages arrived from fallen outposts, we knew:
We need some serious alien butt kicking stuff.
All research was forced to be aimed at weapons and warship technologies, and the Grand Terran Army is the proud result of it.
The great Flagship - and largest spacefaring ship ever constructed - is the YCBC Hope.
Now for the tech specs:
Total length is 18 kilometers.
Crew composes of 190'000 individuals(The 300 attached boarding vessels also have loaded one Company of 240 marines, and they can be transfered to air-to-surface droppods)
The massive armament consists of:
25 350 cm semi-energy turrets, cabable of firing both Nucler-Capped Explosive (NCE) and Ionized Shield Piercing (ISP) shells. Mainly used for planetary bombardment and long to medium range exchange.
150 75 cm semi-energy limited targeting cannons mounted per side, delievering heavy ordonance to every target they're still able to hit (there are reports of ace gunners hitting very slow bombers). Preferably fired in full broadsides.
400 full-energy turrets, firing 150 MW powered plasma magnetically formed to a beam, with speedy and accurate targeting, preferably used on anything that dosen't exceed the size of a bomber. But if their firing mode is set to ions, about 50 of these can degenerate shields of small capital shield slowly.
75 180 cm cannons somewhere between the size of a Capital Cannon and a Heavy Cannon, fully 360° turreted to enably anti-capital bombardment at close range without blowing yourself up.
Note that these may also fire NCE and ISP shells.
Armor composes of 60m of maximally densed duranium steel, an alloy of titanium and tungsten, which the molecules were as densely compressed as physically possible.
75 cm of the interiors are dedicated to emergency and engineering shafts, they also house diverse electrical systems like lighting and heating.
The whole ship is painted in a special color, aiming to deflect most radar waves and making it hard to launch succesful EMP attack on the Hope.
She also carries 30 missile launchers, able to launch many different types, from extremly nimble anti-fighter missiles to (relatively) high payload anti-capital rockets.
Also, 10 forward torpedo tubes are able to launch destructive nuclear, extreme payload torpedos, either to assist a planetary bombardment or inflicting heavy damage to the few, very big capships they would still be able to hit (travel rate is about 10 km/H). Because no sane captain would be willing to be hit by such a thing. These torpedo tubes may also launch the aDvanced shIEld disrupTor Missile (DIETM, lol), a missile that will latch onto the target and create interference on shield buffers, evnetually lowering shield regeneration rate and power. These are however very expensive and big, maximally twelve at a time can be transported.
Last topic: Shields. A total of 36 main shield generators are scattered on the surface, with another 108 secondary generators.
Combined, they create a shield with an withstanding power of impressive 250'000 GJ (gigajoule).
Though the Hope still lacks the advanced energy weapons found on alien ships, a few ships were captured, and we are now analyzing their shield and energy technologies, and the Hope will eventually be retrofitted.
Of course, this gigantic, collosal to say at least, ship, draws on unbelievable power.
Thus, 6 anti-matter reactors deeply embed into the hull of the Hope generate 300'000 TW of power.
Securing peace for today and future generations, the YCBC Hope will also have sister ships and will dispatch the alien forces easily.
