Title: RERELEASE: GTI Bretonia
Post by: Cobra on November 14, 2006, 12:47:10 pm
Just what it says, a rerelease. I've converted the installation for 3.6.9 use. Included is the original VP and a converted TBM. Fully working.

Original model and textures: c914

GTI Bretonia Download (http://hades-combine.com/web/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=245)

It may have been the way I had the sun set, but I didn't see the same kind of glow as the original 3.6 version showed. I dunno, it could be fine.

I have the BEST timing, too. Right after I redownloaded the GTI Bretonia the files were deleted from the site.

I don't think it's uploaded, but if it is, it's an outdated version. I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, just settle for the download link I posted. :P

EDIT: It's the older version. I'll have the new one up in a minute.

Um, WinRAR isn't a modding tool, it's a file compressor and extractor. :wtf:

Oh, and you can download it.

Wait, wait, wait. Your parents choose exactly what you can or can not download?

You poor depraved child.

Hmm... the old Bretonia never caused problems in my builds. Oh well, nice to see things updated.

Now if someone could just fix the LOD's on the GTI Whitehall... :doubt:

What? My baby has LOD problems? Why wasn't I informed about it earlier?

Don't know. I released it some time ago...

If you D/L it, download version 2, I had trouble replacing the first version (which had missing textures) so I had to make a new download.

So it is YOU who made this model. Know that I used it for ITHOV and (not knowing who exactly the author was) credited you as "the creator of the GTI Bretonia." If that hurts your conscience, self-esteem, and emotional stability, let me know and I will change it.

Good work on the model, by the way.

No problem... Try my Aeglos and Naereos installations if you liked the Whitehall.. :d

questions:

where do I extract it to?
Can I use it in a Campiagn?

POF  ->  Models
PCX, TGA, DDS, (etc)  ->  Maps
TBL, TBM  ->  Tables

TO use it in a camp, you have to put it in there, and give c914 credit.

Gotcha.

Veeeeeeery pretty. I can't tell, but would you think it's bigger or maller then an Arcadia?

edit: wait, wait. I figured out how to get the thing to work just after I installed it, and it came with only two files, which I chucked in the tables folder. It works fine, even only with five turrets. I'm using SCP, BTW.

Technically it's not downloading, it's copying. And it's not really downloading if someone e-mails it to you too either...

Likely because it uses FS2 tiles (Although that landing pad looks off). What I posted was just a general guidline for all models you download.
If this is simply the pof and a tbm, it will work just fine... so long as it doesnt need custom maps.

You need Lithunwrap for UV mapping cuz trueSpace 3.2 is lousy for texturing. A trick to do with trueSpace to make UV mapping easier is to paint the sections of your model with different, solid colors. That gives each part a different material, which can be selected in the unwrapper. Makes it much easier to tell which faces fit together.

Even a crotty old 486DX can be used for making models with trueSpace. Heck, even a 486SX will work, especially if you're sticking to low-poly stuff for Retail FS2. I did a bunch of stuff with a 486SX/33 with a whopping 8megs RAM in 30pin SIMMs, in Windows 95a on an 8gig hard drive.

These days many computer shops are literally throwing away Pentium III and Slot A systems! See if your folks will let you call around to computer shops and ask if they've any older PCs they need to dispose of and if they might dispose of one your way. ;) That's how I got a lot of my PC parts when I was your age! Course in those days it was stuff with 8088, 80286 and 80386 (if I was lucky) CPUs. Anything under a gigahertz these days, most people turn their noses up at, heck, it's getting to where they're going "Welll, I dunno, it's *only* 2 gigahertz...". I used a PCjr and was darn happy to have it!  :lol:
