Title: Real life activites
Post by: Polpolion on November 16, 2006, 06:14:35 pm
What real life (not at home on the computer) activities are you guys involved in?

I'm in marching band (9th in nation yay!) (again), Quiz bowl (like team jepordy, except not dumb), and a science Olympiad team. Yeas, I am quite the nerd. Hopefully someone else will match my nerdiness...

My only real-world skills or activities that don't involve harming other people are: Cooking, reading and possibly winning an Oscar in 3 years.

Flying Lessons, School, Trail Riding (ATVs), Marksmanship.

That's it, my dull little life.

I wish I'd gotten into Basketball now....

Used to be in marching band and jazz band in high school...play the drums in a band here in the residence hall.

Involved with the univ. Amnesty Int'l chapter, MoE (masters of entertainment), which puts on LAN parties here at the residence hall, and IMAGE, our GLBT support group...

I signed up for a fencing club at the beginning of the semester, but the guys never emailed me

My real life involves the internet and computers. Answering this question would make my brain melt and ooze out my ears :)

During the summer, I like canoeing when time allows. I hope to maybe hit Sweden next year for an actual river as opposed to the wannabe streams we have around here. During the winter, I'm with Inquisitor: Internet and computers. Plus the occasional book.

I'd actually like to read more than I do, but I tend to be so tired after work that I fall asleep if I sit down with a book. I ruined my copy of hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy by falling asleep while reading it and then ending up leaning heavily onto it :( Gotta get a new one... that book owns.

Well...I do tech support and systems training for a living right now.  Its not much of a living but its what I've got right now.

I mostly just try and socialize...hang out at the various local pubs around town, occasionally attend some small concerts (free is best these days for me), and have done some traveling by car/air to visit people.  I'd really like to get back into soccer but its hard to find something in your mid 20s...I'm in decent enough shape to play in some of the slightly less competitive leagues but there simply aren't that many.

We the People. (http://www.civiced.org/wethepeople.php)  Basically civic education, indepth Constitutional study, and overall a kick-ass experience.  Vice President of my high school's Military History Club.  Nothing else.  WTP takes up all my damned time anyway.

Singing in a Choir and Klapa (hard to define, similar to a barbershop quartet, but much better), reading books, war history stuff, writing some stuff...things like that.

When I get done with school and move back home, I will be involved with the local Service Club, which helps out with various events throughout the year.  One of the biggest events we host is the Silver State Classic Challenge, where racers from all over the world bring cars of all kinds to be raced anywhere from 90 to 200+ mph down an open highway from north nevada to Las Vegas.

Other than that we do a lot of christmas activities, of which I've yet to find out.

As for other real life stuff, I'm the lone network technician at a ski resort, which has given me experience, but not much more.  I'm just about to graduate and be done with university life forever.

I drink. A lot. But I actually turned that into my main hobby by learning all about mixing cocktails and the like.

And occasionally go to uni.

I have a fascination with astronomy and studying it has been sort of my hobby for the past few years.  Along with that goes a lot of stargazing, and I'm considering getting into digital astrophotography.
Also I just started a sword collection, and am hoping to get into a historical-fencing interest group at some point. :)

Snowboarding, airsofting, girlfriend, school, work, high altitude weather ballooning, and the occasional social gathering are the only non-computer/non-video game activities I do that I can think of right now.
