FRED2 is already installed with retail FS!

But the thing is the retail FRED2 is not compatible with FS_open

If you're unable to run FRED2 with FS2_Open installed then you've screwed up the install.

Sure you can't make missions using FS2_Open features but you should be able to make missions that work in FS2_Open with it.
