Title: Whats better for a new ship?
Post by: nubbles526 on November 20, 2006, 11:53:46 am
Ok, I had a talk with one of the HC (Hades Combined) guys. I asked him if he could make new ships for me. He asked me the following

Would you consider me making a new model by retexturing an exsisting model, or a completely new model.

I think everybody thought the same...

I said new model. He finished the model and told me to texture it myself. It turned out to be ok, but it took me quite a while.

So, my fellow HLP members, whats your answer?

Would it be:
1. You get a ship that is retextured?
2. A completly new model, but plain old gray?

(Should have put this in a poll but whatever)

You should make the ship yourself.  :P

Anyways, I'd rather get a new model, and not a re-textured one. I don't know why.

New model. It can be textured later.

but you see, I'm a pretty lazy person... I don't really work well with texturing

I can probably go either way depending on the situation.

There's no reason you have to be the specific person texturing it.

Just try to texture some of the things you think will be good for your model and then the other next...

Perhaps I meant

'All in favor of new model say Aye.'

Aye.

But if its not textured using blip.pof would be better.

How about a pic of this model? If it strkes someone's fancy, they might offer to at least UV map it.

well, if youre learning texturing and dont have a model, then retexturing existing ships a good way to learn. thats why i did the ulysses retexture way back in the day. if your learning both texturing and modeling, its generally a good idea to go all the way, make a model, uv it, and then texture it then the finished product is completely yours, and it will inspire you to do others.
