Title: Derelict Noob help!

I've just gotten hold of Derelict as my first downloaded campaign and it's great so far etc apart from one snag.  I'm on the mission where you need to disable the Ithaca, everything goes to plan and it launches escape pods and then explodes.  I then get told to identify the unknown vessel, trouble is - there is no vessel!  I've looked everywhere, it's not on my radar at all.  I've flown around for ages cycling through my targets but I still can't see a thing :S

Is this a bug or am I just incredibly stupid  :eek:

It's sitting in the asteroid field a ways away. Faustus-class. It's cloaked, so you won't see it by cycling through targets. You have to look on the radar screen for a purple blip that is kinda moving around.

If you're using 3-D radar it can be a little trickier to see.

Wow thanks for your quick reply.  I just switched back to my 2d radar and I found it straight away when it first appeared thanks for your help  :cool:

Hey! I need noob help as well. only this is more of a bug.

So I’m playing derelict, right? Having fun, intrigue… When I get to the mission where you’re in a vasudan fighter, and the colonists from capella are arriving. (This is the mission right after you first encounter the Lucifer destroyer in subspace). any who, I play though it, and it comes to the part at the end where to governor needs to dock with the station. What ends up happening is the governor’s shuttle doesn't dock, it crashes into the station till it explodes. Know any way to fix this?

I’m playing the standard derelict campaign with freespace SCP.

BTW, where do you get the voice acted derelict?

Standard Derelict has lots of bugs of this sort. The voice-acted, fixed Derelict is found on Hades Combine.

Just got another problem, it's one I've seen already fixed but it's unavailable to me.  In the "Spider to the fly" mission, I think that's the one, where I've got to scan different ships, well it never ends.  I've seen it fixed another thread but (and this is probably because I don't know how to use Fred yet) whenever I try and open the mission after extracting it fred says it's invalid or something and the new fixed mission that was uploaded isn't there anymore.

When I run Fred I get this error list ...

FRED doesn't recognise mods unless you rather directly tell it to. Even if FSOpen is running a mod just fine, FRED won't. Here's how to get FRED to use mods:
1. Create a shortcut icon to FRED.
2. Right-click the shortcut and select Properties.
3. In the target box (it'll say something like C:\games\freespace2\FRED_3_6_9.exe) insert at the very end -mod <modname>. So for Derelict you'd say: -mod Derelict.
4. Rename the shortcut something like FRED_Derelict so you know what mod it is bringing up.

So, try running a FRED that recognises Derelict. Also, make sure it's FRED Open, not retail FRED.

I've just gone and skipped the mission but once I get the files I'll give it a go.  Nice one thanks for the help  :p

** Aww nuts I've just got hold of a copy of fred2 but it wouldn't work so I downloaded the missing Open dll it indicated and now it won't find a glow file or something.  Bollocks to it I'll just have to download other people's missions instead of trying to make my own  :ick:

The missing glow error is cause by you running the 3.6.7 VPs with 3.6.9. Check the FS upgrade forum for the 3..6.8 Zetas which is what you should be using.

The OpenAL error also indicates that thus far you've been using an older version of FS2_Open. Grab RC7 from the SCP->Recent builds forum.

I have the same bug, and I have the fixed SCP version...
