Just ran across this; it seems that I'm not the only one fed up with Lucas' directing abilities.

3630 signiatures ATM - let's boost that up to at least 4000, eh? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

There's another one for the good guys. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
-
hop, one more. And they should let WETA do the SFX, too (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Lucas is suffering from the same stuff that Napolean suffered from, he's been right for so long that he can't imagine himself doing anything wrong (like that bastardized version of episode four he did... new FX = good, changes in plot and character developement = my three-year-old son could do better)
------------------
I told you that It ("http://www.jskgames.homestead.com/files/home.html") would be done by November, well, mostly anyway...
I'm working on something new... shhhhh, it's a seceret.

LOL
I still find it quite amusing how many ppl wanna knock Lucas for what he does with HIS project.
Fact is the entire SW saga had dramatic effects on culture itself,..how many films have ever done this?
Ppl nit pick the story changes and such but alot tend to forget...it's his story,..it's not like he's copying a plot from someone else's books or what not and making a movie from them, it's all his vision.
-
Actually, Warlock, that's the one thing with that petition I'm not too hot about - I'm all for having what's-his-face direct the movie, but I think Lucas, even though I can imagine different plots that I think would be neater, should be the dude in charge of the storyline/plot. Just don't let him direct! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Personally...I think it's really egotisical that this petition even came into being.
Ask yourselves this,...thus making mods campaigns and what have you...you've put in alot of hours,...Lucas...he put in 20+ freaking years! If I started a petetion to remove ANY of your from your projects to have someone else run them...how the hell would you feel?
Ok so Lucas doesn't handle the newer movies as some of you feel he should...your point? What ya wanna petition Interplay to gave HLP the rights to FS because we think they'll do a better job with sitting on them?
Oh no no I got it! Let's petition THQ for the rights to control Volition because...well hell being we're the guys playing the games...who better to handle all the choices than us???
With all due respect to everyone here,..this is just f***ing stupid.
1: Lucas will prolly fall out of his trailer laughing IF he were to actually ever see this thing.
2: Ohhh 4000 ppl signed....15 MILLION watch the movies,..yup majority here oh yeaaaaaa.
3: *passes out Kleenex* I think I heard a sniffle.

Be funny, you do all this and than Attack of the Clones turns out to be a mega-hit. Shouldnt you see the movie before you start complaining about Lucas, i personally enjoyed TPM very much.
-
Warlock, I must admit, you have some very good points there. But I don't think that the ppl who started this petition have any illusion whatsoever that - even if 5 billion people sign up - Lucas will step down. Instead, they'll probably at most get his attention and maybe even cause him to do 2 (probably waaaay too late for that) and 3 differently.
Zeronet, I enjoyed EP1 alot, too. The pod-racing scene was awesome, and the lightsaber choreography(sp?) was beyond words. But the acting itself was definetly lacking: the actors had no emotion. I know for a fact that it was not the actor's fault, as I've seen Samuel Jackson, Natalie Portman and Liam Neeson acting woderfully emotional roles. I mean, where's that wonderful teasing attitude, like there was between Leia and Han? Stuff like that was definetly lacking, IMHO.
However, from what I've seen of EP2 (trailers and such), it seems that Lucas included a lot more humor and emotion in it then he did in EP1. I have hopes for it yet. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

well, Bobba Fett seems to be featured a lot in this episode, it's a good point for me (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Wonder how he gets from chasing Anakin to become one of his most trusted ... should I say... friend?
-
Its Jango Fett(BF father) not boba fett.
-
Why's everyone saying it's Boba's father anyways? I've never seen any mention about his old man.
-
www.starwars.com ("http://www.starwars.com")
look at the Episode Two information on the database section. Its Jango all right.
-
Hey cool thanks

You can say that again. I would watch any SW movie if only for the lightsaber duels. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Yeah, the whole film should've recieved far more credit than it got. However it may have relied to heavily on effects to disguise acting...

Nah. I didn't like it. Plus I go to see a star wars movie for the kick a$$ space scenes ( Death star trench, asteroid field hunting, battle of endor). nothing like that in TPM, just a small skirmish at the end.
AotC seems better for that tho.

Eh, I was never too much of a SW fan anyways. Still, everything should stay where it belongs.

Yeah, the movie isn't that bad, Jar Jar is annoying, but nowere near as bad Jake Lloyd.
-
True, Ja Ja gave it to much of a "kids feel" where the sarcastic banter between C3PO and R2D2 was both entertaining and adult at the same time (it didn't matter that young children couldn't understand it, and that was the whole beauty of it).
However Venom also has a point - Star Wars should have massive fleet battles in all it's episodes, thats why it's called Star Wars and not Land Wars. The Naboo/Droid fleet was impressive but lost some of it's touch since we had to listen to Anakins pathetic whining as he learn't how to fly the starfighter. Now I know he's a Jedi etc... and should be good at flying but there was none of the comradeship between the Naboo against the evil Droid ships as there was with the Rebels against the Imperials - it all felt much more human when we had that going on.
That said - there was a land battle on Hoth as well as on Naboo, but what have we here? Ja Ja Binks wandering around being stupid and accidentally saving the day - Blatently something to keep the kids entertained, I was hoping for a gritty fight between the under-equiped Gungans and the Imperial like presence of the Droid army - but was instead put through the various antics of everyones most hated alien ever.
Little things like that made a potentially excellent film just "average" since it relied to heavily on effects and not on good acting. None of the charachters were really developed (except perhaps Quigon Jin (sp?)). Whereas in 4/5/6 there was a tight nit between the actors who all had real charachter (Han Solo anyone?) hell, even Princess Leia managed some feeling in her acting, whereas Queen Amidala in all her guises was really rather wooden and overly regal considering her age and the situation she was in.
But I'm going on, I could pick holes in the films for a long time but I really don't think I should - I've said my piece, for now (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
