For when an Arcadia is too big or to expensive, but you still need some platform to refuel or repair, this small installation should be what you need.

Obviously still a WIP. The Platforms haven't been touched that much yet, but I'd thought its good enough to be shown off to get reactions. This would have something like 5 or so docking points, and a fighter bay could carry about 12 fighters. Maybe more.
This is is a quick size comparison of the installation with an Arcadia and a Satis.

Now that's a really nice variation on a theme there, I'm impressed! :)
-
I like.
Make an HTL Arcadia now, too.
-
Well bug Vasudan Admiral about that. He claimed it. ;)
-
Now that is a very cool little model. Awesome.
(and yeah - the HTL Arcadia's (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29228.msg759990.html#msg759990) deck area is complete, but the main hull is going to be tougher - I don't think it'll pop up too soon :( )
-
Oooh. Forgot about yours. Absolutely adore the last pic with all of those ships docked. :D
-
Question: What will it be called?
*suggests GTI Asteria*
Asteria: The daughter of the Titan Coeus and Phoebe. She was abducted by Zeus, but hurled herself in the sea and became the island of the same name.
An island in the void of space... seemed somewhat appropriate. :)
Secondary suggestion, Hestia.
-
Yeah, I like the appropriate name. And so this installation shall be called the GTI Asteria.
-
Nice  can't wait to see it finished
-
Makes a good research outpost, or base orbiting something "minor" like a planetoid.
-
Nice  can't wait to see it finished
I hope its SCP compatible as well...
And by the way, is it smaller than the Arcadia?
-
Obviously you didn't check out the linked image at the beginning of Axem's post.

Doh! I'm so dumb! Probably wasn't concetrating.
And the title says it all...!

Asteria hungry. Want yummy freighters full of meatbags.
-
 Shivans are crunchy and full of energy :)
-
Awesome, great concept and model :)
-
Wow...
Are you going to make some extensions? I love the Arcadia extensions of INFA and I think there's a possibility to make them compatible with the Asteria..... Is the "hole" at the center of this Station big like the Arcadia's?
-
I haven't played Inferno so I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.
And you can see a size comparison of the Asteria and the Arcadia in my first post. The Asteria's hole is a bit smaller than the Arcadia's. You probably won't be able to fit a cruiser in there.
-
He's talking about the addons that Sandwich made back in the day for the Arcadia. One being a giant engine pod, the other a beam cannon with reactor. They plug into the holes and are supposed to make the arcadia into a pseudo-warship (why, oh why? :p )
-
I see. Neat concept, though they sound a bit unwieldy to me. But since the hole is smaller, those things won't be able to attach.
-
We both love Lizards but you're always wrong :) . I'm talking about the extensions you will find in Inferno Alliance.
What a pity. This means that I won't be able to connect the Asteria with the Arcadia or the Arcas....or both of them....the hole is too little....
-

You shouldn't tell someone he's wrong so hastily. :wtf: The Arcadia extensions were known as Sandwich's models long before Woomeister snapped them up for Inferno.
-
This... is really awesome. Great work :)
-
Inferno doesn't use beam weapons extensions for the Arcadia...there's a comm array extension and another extansion which connects two Stations.
I told him what he told me time ago(uhm, maybe it was aldo). I have no intention of offending other members unless they attack me first, you know.
Axem, there's no chance of making that hole bigger?
-
Not attacking members period is even better.
Anyhow, I don't think I'll be making the hole any bigger. You could always make a connector that could connect the two stations though.
-
Well I think I had a good idea...your resupply station connected to an Arcadia...something cool...
Well even if not connected to an Arcadia, you Asteria is very, very, very good. Do you know when you will release it?
-

So the beam module was modified to be a sensor array, perhaps? Sandwich did make them. I was around for their initial release. I remember him running them past me before he released them, as well.
I don't know what you are talking about with being attacked, but if anything, accusing me of perpetual ignorance could be considered a grave insult.
A large portion of the models in Inferno were released on the forums elsewhere, or from other failed campaigns, and fitted into the Inferno mod afterward. It's quite likely one of the main reasons that it's one of the few campaigns with extensive model packs that has released anything. All of the models were already finished (with a few exceptions). That desn't mean that Inferno had it first, or that the models are different.
-
I know that,Woo said that many models he use are from other mods, but:
Sandwich isn't mentioned in the credits, which means that the extensions you are talking about aren't from him.
-

No the ones Sandwich made are the GTExD and the GTExE. The comm array in INFA/INF SCP is the GTExC and that's one made by me. Since the D and E aren't included in INFA I guess that's were the confusion is coming from for the credits. I've made 6 additional extensions to go with the original 2 Sandwich made.
-
Ahh. I should have known better than to argue with him about inferno >..>;; these newer members know it better than they do the original FS2.
-
So who is wrong? :)
Your behaviour was "fantastic". You thought I were wrong just because I'm new here. Wow.

Uh,6 extensions? I have only two of them + another one from OTT. Maybe you're talking about INF SCP extensions, aren't you?
-

No.
I'm going to blame your lesser understanding of english for your accusations. I had never once said you were wrong. On the contrary, you say I am always wrong.
Also, never once did I say that a new member doesnt know FS. Stop reading what you want to read, and read what is actually written.
The objects I mentioned were made first, by sandwich. Woo took the idea and expanded on it. Does that necessarily make me wrong, since they are essentially the same type of thing (that being an object that plugs into the hole)? Or are you just someone looking to argue semantics?
I dont need another newbie trying to pick a fight. Dont think that ending a condescending statement with a smilie is going to make it any less condescending or insulting.
Have a nice day. :)
-
Ok, you've both said your piece. Leave it at that.
Are you planning for those 'teeth' to be some kind of rotating docking bay doors, or did you just add them for eating Freighters?
-
Yeah, the teeth are doors for an eventual docking point inside the hole. They actually retract fully into the base, but then I can't show them off. ;)
Here's some progress on the platforms. Detail boxes are going to come in real handy here. ;7
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v109/NarfPics/greebles.jpg)
-
Nifty.
-
or did you just add them for eating Freighters?
Ooh. Shades of JAD. ;)
GTFr Kablooie: Sir! Refusing order to dock with the GTI Asteria!
Command: GTFr Kablooie, you are under direct orders to dock with the prototype station.
GTFr Kablooie: But sir! Every ship that's ventured into that hole has been crunched into itty bitty pieces!
GTI Asteria: FEED ME!
-
The Asteria will eat one way or another...

-
Poor nonHTL Satis :(

*Snip*
Eating? Or mating?! :shaking:

dude, mating is going too far.

Hey, now, we're not on Kreetassa.

<SNIP>
You call all that SLOW progress!?! :eek2:
Looking VERY good now! Planning on using Bob's new turret code on those side turrets?
-
Ooh, side turrets. Niceness.
-
Yeah, I figure I probably won't get this done for a long while, so might as well plan to use features that are still forthcoming. ;) Even so, I can chop down the turrets a bit so they could be single parts.
-
very nice
-
Make the teeth a Stargate Iris instead :nervous: :D
jk. XD
-
make arcadia hi-poly, with decent mapping.
everyone will love you forever, i swear.
