There is no good reason any FS2 mission won't work under Linux if it works under Windows unless you've run into a platform specific bug (in which case report it so that it can be fixed).

What is more likely is that you've run into a mission which won't work on Linux or Windows because it's for an earlier version of FS2/FS2_Open. Tell us which missions you've tried and we can tell you what's gone wrong.

Well, first off, bienvenue a Hard Light Productions :)

As for the problem, a possible cause is forgetting to deselect Inferno as a mod before playing non-Inferno missions. This will almost always cause problems, and would be consistent with Inferno working but nothing else. As for the english, no problem. This is a very diverse community and has members from all over the world, so people will understand :)

So i've greated freespace->data->missions

I've put all missions and ampaing of freespace2
only the .fc2 files work:
Deep Blood and The Aeos affair 2.0
The .fs2 don't work

I've open-fs2-r build 3.6.9

.fs2 are single  missions. Make sure you play them by going to the tech room, then simulator, then single missions (the button at the bottom left)

COW will crash out in modern versions of FS2_Open. It was built for a much older version and when we moved over to HTL for models it stopped working properly. Hopefully one day someone will fix it as it was kinda fun.

As for STL my bet is that you don't have the requisite files it need. Remember that it uses the FS1Port and Lightspeed's nebulae. You've already said you had the port but did you remember to set up the command line to take advantage of it? Your command line should have included something like this -mod ShroudingTheLight,FS1Port,mediavps

You'd also need to have the nebulae like I said earlier. There should be a download for them as a VP around here somewhere.

Ah ok
I do not use a command, I do not know them .
I stick all the vp has the root of Freespace2. Here what I installed

Shrouding the Light VP file (BR_STL.vp) : http://www.sectorgame.com/blaise/stl/BR_STL.rar
Shrouding the Light Voiceacting VP file (BR_STLv.vp) : http://www.sectorgame.com/blaise/stl/BR_STLv.rar
FSPort VP file (fsport2_3.vp) : http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hlp/hosted/fsport/website/
FSPort music VP file (warble_fs1.vp) : http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hlp/hosted/fsport/website/
Lightspeed's green nebulae (Set 3) : http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/sbre/stl/FS2_Nebula_Backgrounds3.zip
Lightspeed's blue nebulae (Set 6) : http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/sbre/stl/FS2_Nebula_Backgrounds6.zip

I think it's the .tlb ,I have not paste it in my tables files, I will test again

The command I included tells the game where to look for files. So basically the assumption was that you had

-installed STL to a folder called ShroudingTheLight
-installed the FS1 port to a folder called FS1Port
-installed the nebs to your mediavps folder.

As things are you're relying on the VPs being in the right alphabetical order for them to be parsed in the correct order.

Yes thank you Karajorma, I'have found the command line here: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Command-Line_Reference.

Why they are not a launcher for linux?
It's possible to greate a script for chose mods like under Win32? It shall be great and easy for a beginner like me.

It's possible to create a Linux server to play one line?

Taylor is working on a launcher that will be crossplatform but it will be a while before we see it most likely.

Till then the only thing you're really missing is an easier to use front end and the ability to use mod.ini files to save you a bit of typing when you change mods. But you're a Linux user. You're supposed to like doing all that stuff anyway :p

As for multiplayer the standalone server is windows only at the moment. I'd love to see it implemented in wxWigets or something to make it crossplatform though. You can run a non standalone server though.

Yes Yes i'm linux user, but I like the front end too  :)

I've found this:

http://icculus.org/~taylor/fso/misc/fs2openPXO-linux.tar.gz

with fs2net, but they are no "read me", Know you how it works?

That's the FS2NetD or PXO source code (Not certain which without looking).

Not something you should be bothering with unless you plan to code for us.

1) Some of those options aren't visible in the Windows version of the launcher because they require a value to be any use (For instance ambient factor and spec-tube etc.)

So if you're going to make them visible on the Linux version you'd better include a way to set a value for them.

2) I know Taylor hates them but are you planning mod.ini support?

yes It is true, For instance ambient factor and spec-tube it miss the windows
i tell Zehirmhann for this.

for the mod.ini , i don't no, if it's possible why not.
