I tried loading a mission. It shows up in the single mission screen, but when I click to start the mission it tells me that I need the FS2 CD. No long error message, just "Please Insert FS2 CD". I tried again using the default mission- one Ulysess. I get the same error.
I'm using HOTU 1.2 retail. What's going on? How do I run my own user-created missions? Does it matter what driectory the game is installed in, because mine isn't installed in what I would assume to be the default place of C:\Games:\Freespace 2.

Which version of HotU do you have? The ~600MB download or the ~200MB one?
If it's the later then you can solve the problem with the exe from my HotU crack pack (check my FAQ's download section). If it's the former try it anyway (although it should be the same exe as you actually already have).

I replaced all the files and it still doesn't work. Strange. I'll spend a while tweaking my computer's options at random, that always helps.

I like the idea that mention of the original FS2 CDs is now considered a "strange bug".

Huh- I put in the FS2 demo CD and the problem's solved! :wtf: Might want to add this to your FAQ, Kajorama, just so next time someone says "don't read the FAQs" you can really reply "I told you so".

Actually I usually advise them to upgrade to SCP and never see that message again :)

or you could just get the crack lol

He did. It didn't work.
No idea why. It always worked for me.
