Title: Now this is how to end a series
Post by: IPAndrews on December 08, 2006, 12:15:33 pm
It's okay it's Blake's 7. JMS would approve of me posting it here since he was a huge B7 fan.

Get all your heroes in a room, and execute them.

God i remember watching that when i was going up, What a way to end a show, different but good, better than all the happy endings star trek gave.

A great ending - quite last-standish but that's the way I like it...

I still think Blakes' 7 was years ahead of it's time. It was one of the only shows which actually accepted that major characters could die just like any of the others.

Just noticed there's something missing from this version. After Avon raises his gun the screen goes black. After a short pause we hear a single shot fired, then a huge volley of shots :).

I also thought that Servalan walked into the room, that's why he grinned as he raised the gun?

I don't remember that. I always figured he was grinning because he was a smart guy and always figured it would end that way.

Yeah, I'm quite likely wrong, she did so much 'walking in', I half expected it to happen and probably convinced myself it had. :)

I wonder if anyone has ever suggested to JMS that he remake this show?

Maybe but I think the problem is that most people would think that B7 was just a sequel to B5 :)

Going off on a slight tangent, which I can do because this is my forum and there's nobody here anyway, I heard on radio one that they are going to film a new Only Fools and Horses series. A "what happened before series". I found it most amusing that radio one assumes that OFAH fans won't understand the word prequel.

I think it's more likely that they assume Radio 1 listeners won't understand the word :D

i watched it good.

but 'the shield' is better at this stuff. last one i saw is where cavanah and vic were having a fight after one of the strike team was killed by a grenade, i cant wait to see what happens.

My favourite is the bank of flashing computer lights. Only they couldn't afford independently wired and blinking flashing lights. So they had a bank of coloured pieces of plastic and a man behind it waving a torch around. Us brits have never really thrown money at sci-fi. I think the one exception was the BBC version of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

now that was good, The hitchikers, even though is was created in 1980 but still good.

The movie version isn't bad either, except the Arthur loves Trillian thing is way overdone. If they'd just let Martin Freeman do the confused brit thing instead like the guy in the BBC version did (Simon Jones?) then it would have been perfect.

I think it's about time Blakes 7 was completely redone with new effects, some good actors, but not a "before B7" or "After B7" thing, just redo it Battlestar Galactica style.
