Title: Help with Freespace 1

I just picked up Freespace 1 with the Silent Threat addon for 5 bucks.  The thing doesnt patch right.  The main CD seems to have the latest and greatest 1.06 version, but the Silent Threat overwrites it with 1.04 version.  The downloadable 1.06 patch will not update the 1.04 version.  The auto update utility in game gives me a sharing violation and wont update itself.  Gah!! I would appreciate a step by step instruction please.

I seem to remember reading that you don`t actually need the patch if you`ve installed silent threat.
