Do NOT buy Ghost Recon. The game is pretty much an alpha version. It has waaaay too many problems. And my disc is damaged so I have to go back to Wal-wart and exchange it for the same thing so I can get all the lovely errors the game has to offer. Unless you want to get really pissed. Do NOT buy this game. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/mad.gif)

Funny..
I already got it..
No problems at all...
It runs perfectly and my machine doesnt even meet the minimum requirements...
-
just dont tell that to the over 10,000 ppl that have problems
-
Eh, I got Flight Sim 2002 today. Tomorrow I am going to get Empire Earth, and, if I have any money left, Ghost Recon. Next on the list is Civilization 3..
-
Civ 3!!! I so need to get this game - I just watched the 'Making of Civ 3' from Firaxis, and damn, I've gotta get it, and ruin my life with it. Again. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) (You'll know what I mean if you get the video ("http://www.fileplanet.com/index.asp?scope=0&submit.x=20&submit.y=2&file=82490")...)

Civ3... I'm not allowed to have that game. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
SMAC almost ruined my marriage. She just didn't understand about my relationship with Planet. Civ3 would just about lead to divorce. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Muhahahaha! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/devil.gif)
I have Civ3! Admittedly I can't play it for another 6 days (which is when I get home), but I have it! From the look of it, I suggest you play as either the Germans or the Russians. The only thing that I don't like from what I've seen is the Celts are gone (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

I am sort of trying to decide between Civilization 3 and Space Empires 4... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
The next games on my must-have list are Unreal 2, Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

???? i think you should better return that cd and ask for new one, cuase i think it's broken, i got it and have no problems with it, and the game OWNS
-
One thing I will say about this - be careful with your sound settings, I played the demo and when I turned hardware sound on I slowed to about 10FPS whereas with it off it was up in the 30s/40s.
-
The Celts are gone?? #(&@!
-
Ghost Recon runs fine on my new ubercomp, but im too busy playing AVP2 with max settings. AVP2 is a must buy game, simply amazing, beats RTCW.
-
I just got Empire Earth and 256 megs of ram to add to my original 128 (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
I have Civ3, playing it now actually, and yes, it rocks. Though I do miss the Celts (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
And Ghost Recon works fine for me

Hmmm... can't endorse I-war too much. Hyperrealistic, cool graphics and effects, sure, but it's HARD! And BORING besides! AND CRASHES MY COMPUTER!!!

Hard? I'm wishing it had a difficulty setting so far, so I could ramp it up a bit. And its not boring, once you start into the storyline.
Now, I might change my mind about how hard it is or isn't if I were to install the Elite Mod. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Yeah...
Waay too easy....
Ever go to the Grimwald Container Station?
Loads of lightly defended transports..
I had a cloud of containers folating around the station..
Took Jafs about 8 runs to get them all, and about an hour...

Well I'm having fun with Myth III, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and ST Armada II (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
Ahh, Myth III is fun though, Tain, Tain Tain!
RTCW is good for one thing though, the flame breathed zombies (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Grimwald is almost always utterly empty for me. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif) I've been hanging about St George lately. Some useful materiel has come through there (most notably the medical gear that got me Instant Shield Control). Now I'm looking for some survival gear so I can get my docking autoturret. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
I think the reason people think Iwar2 is hard is that they are trying to play it like its Freespace or Wing Commander or Xwing. Its just a guess. I can't be the only one not have much trouble with dogfighting with the Lady Inertia.

Civ3 is pretty cool, but it's so bloody slow! When you have to wait five minutes for a turn, you know something's off.

No, Iwar2 is hard coz you have always die at the end of the mission, and iwar2 missions are damn long (lds jump, rdv point, lds jump, battle, Lpoint, cutscene, battle, death, load main menu for two minutes, hangar, launch, etc).
But It's not boring, excepted if you spend all your time pirating, sure, that isn't really breathtaking.

The I-War missions are for **** . Oh, look! A gunstar! FOOM! [restart] Oops, I timed this acceleration half a second off! FOOM! [restart] Funny, there's this one half-dead corvette 1/9 my size that I just can't nail... oops, he got behind me! FOOM! [computer crashes a few dozen times]
when I play a flight sim, I wanna play a flight sim! Not a goddamn puzzle! I've got puzzle games- they're fun sometimes! That's because they're BUILT TO BE PUZZLES, NOT FLIGHT SIMS!
Aside from that, the pirating either gets you killed instantly by some horde of tugboats, or ends up feeling like you're going out for groceries. "Let's see, dear, did we need to get Wiring? Oh, look, an unprotected freighter of Apes! I don't need it, but what the hey, let's live a little! Now we have almost all the ingredients for a Cryo PBC!"
Besides which, it took up so much space I had to delete everything else. I think I'll get rid of it today, actually, it really is for **** .

You sir, are talking out of the wrong orifice. I personally rate IW2 above freespace 2. You probably can't do any of the missions because you don't fly the ship correctly, if you did, then you would realise how piss easy it is, but also how good the storyline is and how damned satisfying the ending is. Granted, it is not perfect, but then again, neither is anything else. And may I suggest that if you find this game too mentally challenging, you go back to playing doom as your insufficiently sized brain can obviously not handle anything more complex.

i thought the IWAR2 ending was as sudden as the FS2 ending.. it was hard the first time though but after a few days screwing around it got fun hella fast

now i play FS2 like there was inertia.. pretty painful
-
I actually prefer the more realistic Iwar approach to that... particularly the way you can turn it on and off, and thus strafe and all sorts of other cool things... the only part I took exception to was that when you speeded up too much then tried to maneuver you had to wait a few minutes to turn a fribaging right angle...
-
I love I-War 2... Although it's taken me 3 months to get to the Battle of Mwari, rather than a 5 days to beat FS2, but hey, don't let that frighten you. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
I personally don't find direct FS2 and IW2 comparisons that suitable... They're different. Freespace 2 is more traditional, and has a much less complex flight model. I'm not saying that's bad, it's really what you prefer.
As for Ghost Recon, I'm skipping over it for now. I know that Gamespot is incredibly harsh on games, but I'm going with their opinion.. And plus, IW2, Empire Earth, and Battlezone 2 (its mods), not to mention real life, are going to keep me occupied are a very long time indeed...

Wise words.
Anyway, I would say Iwar2 is really worth a try, but with that demo (which is absolute crap and will make anybody flee Iwar2 like plague), not easy to "try" it w/o buying it...

Battlezone 2 (its mods),
That Forgotten Enemies mod is really cool. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
