Damn, the Seljuks had a good thing going there. One interesting thing is to see how many empires controled discontinous territory. Like there are big holes in their territorial boundaries, which I guess would be inhospitable or uninhabited places like the Sahara or Negev.
I guess they could also add modern incarnations of the Persian Empire or Crusader Kingdoms, depending on who you ask ;);)

You list the Negev in the same breath as the Sahara?? Slight difference of scale there... ;)
-
Well...they're both deserts, aren't they? With sand? Truthfully, I don't really know with any accuracy how big either of those two are, though of course I imagine the Sahara is quite a bit bigger.

Nice, shame its not continuous though, be nice to see all the various nations in interaction with each other. Middle east has such a depth of documented history, all of it violent, the best type.

First time I fully realise the scale of the Mongoloid Empire, which is FRIKKIN' huge. :O

I have seen a lot of different spellings of saladin
good to know it isn't just dumb americans who go with the hyper phoenetic one

Wow, some of those empires were simply massive. I didn't realize how far the Roman empire stretched.

The Sahara has sand (I presume); the Negev has soil that lacks decent rainfall.
The Sahara is over 3.5 million square miles. For comparison, the USA is 3.7 million square miles.
The Negev is around ~5 thousand square miles. For comparison, it is basically half of Israel's land area. Israel is approximately the same size as Pennsylvania.

The empire of fruit cups and short buses?

Beat me to it.
But really, is anyone suprised by the success of the Mongoloid Empire? After all, they did have retard strength. Who wouldn't get freaked out seeing a horde of towering foreheads charging at them, ready to strike down everything in its path.
