Title: Fan-made concept art for massive anti-juggernaut warhead
Post by: Agent_Koopa on December 17, 2006, 05:44:22 pm
Site (http://www.lares.dti.ne.jp/~hamano/FS/earthshaker01.htm) came up on a Google Image search for "sd ravana".

For comparison, that thing on top that carries it is a modified Aeolus cruiser.

That concept seems seems to me to be the venerable Earthshaker missile of Descent II fame, although I don't think I've ever seen one quite so big in-game. :p

The guy who made those is called "Hamano" on these forums.

He's still alive you know. He recently posted a picture of a next-gen fighter on the FSPort forum.

The Orion Phase 2, the Ticonderoga, the Herc Mk III and the GTC Boreas (Uberized Aeolus) are all available on his site and are compatible with FS2 but the Earthshaker 2367 is only in TrueSpace.

He's done a couple of handy plug-ins for TS too.

Haha, I myself wish HTL versions were made, particularly for the Boreas (not to be confused with INFR1's GTD Boreas), Ticonderoga and Orion Phase II designs.

I'm thinking "what if", a HTL version of the GTC Boreas was done up by the same author of the HTL Aeolus (not forgetting to credit Hamano for the original idea of course), using the same background-reflecting textures, et cetra. Perfect uniformity, perfect for mods methinks (especially those that want to use the Boreas as a "successor" to the Aeolus).

Maybe the same thing with the Orion Phase II as well, use the regular Capital01 textures as much as possible so that making variants via texture replacement is easy... the MediaVPs and TrashMan's Orions all share the same textures...

Just my thoughts. :)

What would be cool is, seeing as how a Myrmidon can carry four Helios torps, an Ursa could carry the Earthshaker  :D

that, and ~w would own hard.

The Helios model is ridiculously huge to begin with, about a fourth the size of an Ursa unless I'm mistaken.
