The antifighter platform got me thinking about freighters actually. The only shivan ship that keeps me at bay is an asmodeus. After that i find all other shivan ships very approachable compared to a ****ing asmodeus.
I have put together a list of some nasty freighters when you have to fight them, and some not nasty freighters. Yes i threw in gas miners because they still haul freight (gas) and are stuck in convoys (just like freighters).
The real question at hand is which of these freighters has the best anti fighter array. Antifighter **** for freighters is a little different. Among weapons, it also deals with armor, also why i stated which is the toughest nut to crack ;) But, also which freighter can perform it's job, keep you alpha one off it's ass, and not jump into a subspace vortex as an explosion and some debris :lol: (it's still funny to send a ball of flames into subspace...oh yes i let that freighter jump out...in a state of vaporization)
But, yes armor lets alpha one keep blasting the freighters ass, and IT JUST WON'T DIE!!! Did i just say GVT Isis :lol: And then weaponry, where alpha one keeps getting blasted to keep him at bay and at distance, just that time of day when you wish you had a maxim, or other wingmates to kill the freighter for you. Oh **** it must be an SFr Asmodeus :D
Plz keep in mind, this is if you got a one on one with a freighter scenario (you can toss in a couple of more fighters if you want i don't care) :p
GVFr Triton: 1 hl7, 1 standard flak
The hl7 doesn't do much, but that single flak is pretty nasty and does provide good cover for the triton, after that the hl7 just throws in where it can with the flak.
GVT Isis: 2 Mekhus
It's not the weapon turrets on the damned isis that make it dreadful (but it is nice to be equipped with a mekhu), it's that in fs1 these things are bastards to destroy...they take forever, and they maneuver around like crazy, i'm not sure if in fs2 it's the same story, but i can only imagine something similar.
SFr Asmodeus: 2 Shivan light laser, 1 Shivan heavy laser, 1 standard flak (in fs1 that flak was actually a disruptor)
In fs1 and fs2 this damn freighter i found the hardest to approach. With or without shields, this thing is just wailing on you with non-stop lasers, and in fs2 flak. Also the thing has some good armor, so it takes a while to destroy. A good deal of the time the asmodeus while it's unloading on you and giving you a difficult time, it can pick up cargo and warp out. This is still what i call the least approachable shivan ship in the game, and if i have extra wingmates...lets just say alpha 1 does not take this kill or do it himself.
GTG Zephyrus: 2 Terran turret weak, 2 hl7, 1 standard flak
I've never actually attacked one of these before. Derelict doesn't count (for some reason i have it stuck in my head that tritons, zephyruses, and anukets have one antifighter beam (at least they do in derelict)).
SFr Mephisto: 4 Shivan light lasers
This thing is great at spitting firepower out at you, but it doens't do anything to your ship, i think it's just for deterrant purposes.
SFr Dis: 4 Shivan light lasers
This this is not real great at getting any lasers to hit you, and it's easy to destroy.
GTFr Poseidon: 4 hl7s
This thing can spit some firepower at you and damage you lightly, but you would have destroyed it sooner or later with relative ease.
ST Azrael: 3 Shivan light lasers
I really don't know anything about an azrael, besides it being a transport, and that it has one less laser turret than the mephisto.
PVFr Ma'at: 2 Terran turrets, 1 Mekhu
This thing is a nightmare in fs1, whether you have or haven't shields. Then again somehow laser firepower of any kind in fs1 was a lot speedier and rapid sort of like star wars.

So which freighter does it's job the best? It's pretty obvious which ones don't, it's pretty obvious which ones do. So which freighters actually warp in, survive to humbly grab it's cargo and warpout MAKING YOU A FOOL!! :lol:

The Azraels are good actually, but those are a transport :S
From that list...
Tritons, are too easy... and the rest... I not sure, in FS2 all are easy, in FS1 Asmodeus all the way.

Zerphyus, it's got two Standard Flaks, three Subachs and four TWTs. Attack it from left and you'll be owned. :D

In FS1 at least the Isis is so small and hard to hit, but it's turrets wear through you very quickly, it's either the Isis or the Satis if you ask me... and since the Satis isn't here.

ive never been killed by any frieghters except one time early in my freespace history, i died to a SFr Dis, and thats probably the only ship in the freighter range that actually killed me, i can not vote because that ship isnt here.

The idea is that i put the freighters from each species that were the most powerful, enduring, or at least most effective. Yes the ma'ats and satises are pretty nasty in fs1 only :lol: Of course i voted asmodeus. That thing has power to get it's job done well enough to keep a1 off it's back,pick up cargo, and warp out. And if it doesn't warp out, well it takes a while to destroy.
On the other hand do you guys really want to vote on like 20 different ships :lol:

We can put in a fred mission a freighter vs 2 fighters, Maybe the Mirmydons or Perseus, the Fighters which HL-7s and 1 Prom R, and Tempests...
Them put the Freighter, and just sit down and watch the action.
EDIT: here take this file, open it which fred, and just going changing the ship...

Lets see my results: (remember is that 2 Myrmydons, which HL7 and Prom R, and tempets, vs the ship.
-VS the GTFR Triton: Triton Destroyed, 1 fighter destroyed.
-VS GVT Isis: 2 Fighters destroyed, Isis left at 40% hull.
-VS SFr Amodeus: Amodeus destroyed. (LOL?, icant belive it, I tried 3 time which the same result, the best i can get is the Amodeus destroing 1 fighter)
-VS GTG Zephyrus: 2 Fighters destroyed, Zephyrus left at 85% hull (those flaks really own).
-VS SFr Mephisto: Mephisto destroyed.
-VS SFr Dis: Dis destroyed.
-VS GTFr Poseidon: Poseidon Destroyed.
-VS ST Azrael: Azrael destroyed.
-VS PVFr Ma'at: Ma'at destroyed.
-VS GVFr Satis: Satis destroyed.
The winner is obiusly the Zephyrus, by much, those flaks really own, the second place is for the Isis, mosly for is small size, and the third place is for the Amodeus.

Isises pissed me off in FS1 multiplayer, the only way to kill them was with phoenix v's

Isis's have pretty strong hulls in fs1. Then again all of the lasers at your disposal besides the prometheus weren't very powerful at all. The isis's i'd just blast them all day long waiting for them to die, i'd usually blast them, and come back for them later.

The Lasers in FS1 were actually just about as powerful as the Lasers FS2, the Avenger is very, very similar to the Subach HL-7, the S-Breaker is virtually identical to the Circe. The Flail is infinitely better than the Morning Star.
No the reason the Isis is / was such a PITA is because it's so small it would literally go between your gunpoints.

Very interesting results at the polls :) ...very undecided i can see. I still stick with the asmodeus, only because i know it'd be an awesome craft if A1 could fly it :nod: The only difference between asmodeus and A1 is the fact that with A1's simple persistence, and the asmodeuses ability to spray fighters good, i deem it would be an awesome freighter to fly, not to forget it has strong hull too. But another thing to decide on is that if none of you have ever played transcend before, well you should so you can actually see how awesome the tritons flak is as well.
In the meantime i slightly changed the question the poll asks you to which one would you love to pilot.

The problem which the Amodeus... take a look a the test mission, 2 myrmidon flying by the IA, armed which HL7, Prom R, and tempets owns the amodeus... and the same Myrmydons have not chance againts a Zephyrus.

Hey i said if i was piloting it. There's just something that says sitting on a bomb flying a gas miner :lol: Idk, i could fly a zephyrus, but i'd still go for an asmodeus.

haha, but anyway, if you ask to me what ship to use against fighter you can be sure that will be the Deimos haha..., all other ships are too easy to destroy which missiles, a couple of Hornets will own all ships listed here haha, and is a standart weapon eh.

Hmmm, still shivansps, this thread has no presence with corvettes, just freighters and gas miners. And apparently instead of a deimos, you'd put all your money on a zephyrus when facing a wing or more of fighters :lol:

Ok, who want to see 34 Fighters VS 18 Zephyrus? You can command them or even fight haha.
The fighters and Zephyrus are which default armaments...
So the first time I let the IA to do the job and their only destroy 6 Zephyrus...
