Title: Verizon can't do math...
Post by: Goober5000 on December 21, 2006, 10:43:48 pm
I'm surprised nobody has posted this yet.  Remember the AOL cancellation (http://insignificantthoughts.com/2006/06/15/what-a-week/) phone call from a few months back?  Now we've got mathematically challenged (http://verizonmath.blogspot.com/2006/12/verizon-doesnt-know-dollars-from-cents.html) folks at Verizon.  Apparently, five different Verizon customer service reps all think that $.002 is the same as .002¢.

My favorite part was when the woman said, "Well, we're calculating the figure here, and we're all coming up with the same thing, except for you."

Is it OK for customers to change the sign to whatever they like, too, when making payments to Verizon?

The recorded phone call is hilarious. Even the goddamn supervisors don't grasp the relation between a number and a corresponding unit.

In other news, IceFire, who lives in Canada, apparently works for Verizon.

Just my 0.02 cents.
Just my 0.02 cents...
My 0.02 cents on this is to take a proactive stance.
Just my 0.02 cents.
Just what I believe...my 0.02 cents.
Just my 0.02 cents.

OK... 0.002 cents. 0.002 dollars.

0.002 dollars. 0.2 cents... 0.002 cents = 0.2 cents.

Sheesh people, don't you get it! Verizon merely uses complicated math .

On the other hand, I know someone who says 1=0, though I think it involves dividing by 0.
