where does this go and these other updated parts that belong to orion maps
(http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/2544/capital0105avb7.png)
after that how do i change thier texture files to get it on fred2?
-
Stick it in the Data\Maps folder for whatever mod you're working on. Then in FRED go to the ships editor for the orion and use the texture replacement system.
-
no thats the problem, i type in the file name and it says it cant find that file???
-
im now in much deeper **** , orion dont show up at all in fred.
-
If you're using it in a mod folder, have you set up FRED to also use that mod?
-
no i just wan to change the texture files, i dont have a mod folder.
-
Which is the format of the texture? AFAIK, FS doesn't read .png textures (but, to be sure, ask coders), it reads .pcx, .dds, .tga and .jpg textures (.tga and .jpeg only if enabled in the launcher).
But if you converted that image to .png only to post it there, then disregard this post :nervous:
-
no way i posted a png here because imageshack doesnt do pcx images only bmp and jpgs, gifs and pngs.
i have pcx images waiting, im not that stupid :P
-
I had the same prob, i fixed it by naming the texture capital01a-05a

... ok?? ...
-
What the hell are those textures doing in Data\Maps in the first place?
Texture replacement works by replacing the default texture with a replacement file that has a different filename If you add a file to the folder with the same filename as the one you're trying to replace then it will replace that texture on every ship of that class. Use a filename the game isn't already using for the replacement textures.
-
well ive already tried that. nothing...
-
Run a search for files with that name on your FS2 folder.
-
I've been getting the exact same problem, I've tried renaming the textures, converting them from pcx and jpg with no luck. I've even copy/pasted the file in all the different fs2 folders just in case for some reason it's referencing the wrong place but I'm stumped.
-
i thought i was the only dumb one but it seems that, thats not the case.
i have a demo 3 missions on the RTC (Random Terror Cause) i just need this texture to be placed on that ship and i can check it out to see if this works, if not then i will release this demo without.
-
Open your FRED2_Open shortcut and enter -jpgtga in the target box options after -fredhtl
-
alright now im getting somewhere, i need open gl 1.2.
-
You saw that error?
You either
1) Have VERY old graphics drivers
2) Have a version of FRED that is very old.
-
my graphics driver atm is ATI Radeon 9600 XT Pro, 256mb x8 AGP
so that isnt the problem.
the fred version seems to be 3.6.9-7??? i guess that must be old. il go check around for a new version.
-
Nope. That should be new enough not to cause the error I was thinking you were getting.
Odd.
-
Very i had same prob with fred2_open but it was because of the old version
-
I'm afraid i'm running into the same problem as Centrixo. I've got a nameplate in .pcx format and it can't find it no matter where i put the file (i even made a data/maps folder for it. If the mod we're working with uses .VP files, do we need to put it into the VP?
