Well, I've been constantly seeing this ship and, irritated that it hasn't already been HTL'ed, I decided to do it myself. Arguably one of the better ships in Freespace, it's always held a special place for me, that's right, it's the HERMES. I'm dead serious.
Like? Current polycount is ~1600. All detail you see is modeled.

I'm all for it! Love doing fly-bys by the things at full afterburners with all power to engines! Scare the hell out of the escapees. XD
Good to see someone tackleing it.

Good work. I decided to HTL this ship cca before 2 months but have to format my HDD so i lost it. Your is a bit better i think.
-
Very Nice. I like seeing this kind of initiative. I can't wait to see the texture work.
-
Oddly enough I also modeled this, but it was also lost in a Hard Drive crash...
You better back up all your files quickly. ;)
Anyway, looks nice.

You should post a copy of the model in case you disappear. :nervous:

uhh...yeah...well I can't map it. I'm terrible with 2d-art. So I guess I'll submit the file for anyone interested to map. All I ask is that the model creator credits go to me, and whoever textures it gets the texture creator credits. I'm also hoping it will make its way into the mv_models pack.
Here it is. I'm working on some other fighters right now so stay tuned for more. The file is in .wrl or something like it, which I think is a pretty universal format, but I can of course release it in most other common formats. Also, if anyone sees problems with the geometry, don't hesitate to say so.

You didn't happen to put a modeled interior to this, did you? ;7
-
the problem seems always to have been not that there are not enough modelers, but there are not enough texture artists.
-
I could model the interior, I just didnt think that it was necessary. It would be REALLY easy too, with such a nice, squarish shape.
I think Axem is working on mapping it although i'm not sure.

And dreadfully lesser FREDders. :(
