Hi there.
I have been playing FS2 since it first came out. to me it is the BEST spacecombat sim out there. I originally had the 3 CD version and had no probs installing from it.
A week ago my pc crashed and had to re-install everything to full.
When try to re-install FS2 via the 3 CD's, I would see it installing the first Cd...UNTIL it would get to 29%. Then kept getting the following:
ComponentMoveData error
Media Name: data
Component: Disc1a-minimum
File Group: Basic Install Files
File: stu_fs2.vp
Error Number: -106
I never had problems with installing before, and have had game for years ( my favorite). Now refuses to install after this point.
I am downloading now the "NO CD Retail Installer" from your download list. I am hoping it turns out that the Cd became just a currupted and damaged file.
Will the retail installer still cause the above error also?? :hopping:
Thank :)

It's a bad CD almost certainly that you've got there. Downloading the online installer (or a replacement ISO for the dodgy CD) should sort you out.

bad luck, your gonna have a hell of a time trying to find a fs2 retail version, their is virtually none around anylonger, if you are good luck.
if you have a lot of shallow scraches on your disc on the silver side thats ok, but you have straches on the picture side, then that disc is useless

Seeing as he owns a copy of the disk it's perfectly legal for him to download an ISO and burn himself a copy of whichever disk broke.
There's a stickied post at the top of this forum with several different links to the ISOs. The online installer is a good option too.

The online installer is a good option too.
And it has just been updated to use the Java FreeSpace Open Installer, so it's not out of date anymore.
