It was just to prevent confusion with the Freespace 2 gun of the same designation, the GTW-5 Prometheus S, sorry if it confused you.

Propetheus is teh bestest.

But ML-16 is the weapon I think with fondness, regularly. It looks so pure and clean. The sound is unique. And ML-16 is the one that held my hand during my first steps, it was there Shivans took away what made me good and pure, and it was the one that helped me take my vengeance on them for the very first time. ML-16 is god!

Prometheus "O"/"S"... complete and total ownage!

I almost miss having no shields on Insane later in FS1... the Valk was fast and had a good primary power!

The avenger quite simply. It's like the subach, only fs1 style. Fires at a great rate, and it's an awesome and effective alternative to the prometheus. I mean for those missions where you can choose the athena, and you're like oh pig**** i can't use the prometheus on the athena well i have to choose another ship i guess. Well, quite simply, the avenger equipped on an athena, and you have a great weapon with a ship that has some of the best gun points in the game.
I'm not a fan of the prometheus anymore. Avenger on anything i can find ;7

BTW...when did the banshee ever do hull damage? and why would you want to be stuck with it the whole game?

Who told you the Banshee did no hull damage?  With 2 Banshees on a Herc I can kill a Scorpion or Basilisk in 3 or 4 hits.
