Hello all,
I have been watching the FS2 modding scene for quite some time now, and thought it would be good to get involved, i would just like to ask, are there any tutorials for adding voice acting into a existing mod, that doesn't have any?
I have gone through the mod and played it without voice acting, and the windows artificial voice, is driving me crazy, i have done my own voice acting for it, and would like to now add it to the mod to test it out, and if all goes well, approach the mod makers with my files too see if they would like to add them.
I have used the search function on the forum, but it doesn't seem to be giving any pointers as to how to add voice acting to either the briefing screen or inflight conversations.
Any help would be much appreciated, and if this is posted in the wrong area, i apologize

All you have to do is put the voice files into their corresponding directory under data/voice. Open up the mission in question, then go to the events. Find the line that the voice file is for, and there should be an "use voice file" or some such box. Point it to the file and you should be good :)
EDIT: For briefing you go to "Briefing" menu box, then select the audio file you want to use :)

Right, sorry to sound very noobie here, but how do i open the "mission up?"
The existing mod i want to test them with, doesn't have a mission file? only 4 .vp files
or will i need something to read then recompile the vp files?
Also, the mod "data" folder doesn't have the briefing folders you described. only the FS2 main Dir folder does, and as far as I'm aware, the mod doesn't use anything out of the main data folder.
Sorry to be a pain in the rear, i have looked for a good tutorial, but to no avail, unless you know of one that i have missed

FRED.

Yes. Get VPView (http://www.descent-network.com/descman/) to read .vp and VPMage (http://www.mydatabus.com/public/tureyhall/z/vpmage.zip) to create them.
Also, the mod "data" folder doesn't have the briefing folders you described.
Create them then.

you'll get a better understanding by screwing around and make a few test missions of your own with standard non -mod stuff first. Learn how the SEXP's work, ect...
I did a hideous amount of voice captures and raw avi footage for briefings (lost those thank God) and it helped me figure out how and when things should happen.
Now, how to convince people to DL 1 gig voice pack (still unfinished) is another thing... :drevil:
