Here it is again without text (//"http://w1.520.telia.com/~u52019065/RCENoText.jpg")
I'm not much of a writer, but it'll do.
If you want it in a different resoution, just ask. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I don't think they'd mind (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Nice pic!

Reminds me of that epic moment in FS2 when they say "Dive Dive! Hit your burners pilot!"... WHAM!
Excellent!

It reminds me of that horrifying moment when the Sathanas first creeps out of the mists of the nebula, like the hand of some angry god come to smite trespassers on his hallowed ground. That's the moment that scared me the most in FS2.

This is just... WOW.... yeah, WOW is definitly the word I want to use for this one.

That would take a day or so.
Anyway since i couldn't make it exactly like the orginal i 'made' these instead. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Dude, those are so cool... You're my hero. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
I have lots of heroes here at HLP... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
Oh, and if you have a spare day for rendering, I'd give you a special award just for having that... I mean, this would look Hella sw33t animated. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Got Divx? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
And lastly, how many frames is the entire sequence? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

No. 'Dive! Dive! Dive! Hit your burners, pilot!' is in open space, not in the nebula. A Sathanas almost turns you into roadkill.

"That would take a day or so."
I'm on frame 33 of a 160 frame animation for BWO, takes about 10 minuets for each frame to render and that is just on 440x200, I may have overdone the material effects.

Bobboau, bringing you products that work.............. in theory

I remember rendering out a pan-around of ship design I did, the Wasp (inspired by the almighty Einhander). 20 seconds of animation at 30fps. Only 320x200. Shouldn't take long, right? I didn't realize that I was raytracing, not rasterizing, and some of the surfaces where extremely reflective. There's a bit of the model where a simple cylinder projects between two hollow 1/3rd spherical sections. The result? Reflections that went about 30 deep. Oh, and a 96hr render. I know, i made a small animation ("http://w1.520.telia.com/~u52019065/ani1.avi") for another thread i started, and i thought, that if i don't render some of the volumetrics, i would save some time. Took 4 hours anyway. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

Well it is xmas so sure. But not today (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
And the animation is ~85 frames long, i think.

what renderer are you using?
cause it sounds terrible (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
NEway...the animation should be cool (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
------------------
have you ANY idea of how much trouble you're in?
assault on a police officer.
Theft of police property.
Illegal possesion of a firearm.
FIVE counts of attempted murder.
That comes to...
twenty-nine dollars and 14 cents.
cash, cheque or credit card?

it may be Lightwave, coz the renderer is excellent, but it's really daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn slow.
-
No it's the standard renderer that came with MAX. If i keep the resolution down that should keep the nebula render reasonably fast.
In the above mentioned ani, i made a killer procedural for the water.

Yeah, that scared the **** outta me.
-
Turn supersampling off if its going WAAY slow.
or failing that use brazil, final render or mental ray.

I try it. Fortunately the neb render doesn't seem to be as slow as atmosphere one.
-
Well, i said i'd render the ani, and here it is! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
It's roulghy 1.9 Mb ("http://w1.520.telia.com/~u52019065/sath1x.avi"). Hope it works for everyone.

I prefer my nebula cloud. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
Sweeeet. Couldn't see the Sath until someone pointed out it was there, thought you'd made a bunch of clouds and pieced them together messily... Would be cooler with more visible glows... WHAT did you use to render it, anyhow??
-
Oh, and 463 opposable toes up! muy bueno!

- Standard MAX renderer.
- Afterburn.
- PCloud particle system.
- Several Omni lights.
- Sathanas.
- 'Sucker' Afterburn helper.
- See a pic of the scene ("http://w1.520.telia.com/~u52019065/RCEscene.jpg") (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
