Title: Your favourite commander
Post by: Vasudan Commander on January 09, 2007, 09:39:40 pm
The subject pretty much says it all. Vote for your favourite commander, as far as voice acting and coolness goes. Me thinks that Snipes will win hands down, since he's the only one who actually flew with you in missions and got in the thick of it with you.

Ofcourse, i've been known to be wrong..... :doubt:

BTW if a moderator remembers the name of the vasudan commander (cant remember off the top of my head), or thinks of any other commanders, feel free to alter it, or let me know.

My vote was for Cordova.  In fact, when I was Beta testing for the Inferno R1+SCP patch, as I was proofreading mission briefings to myself, I was hearing his voice as my briefing officer.

Cordova. I like the voice. And, I can't vote against an Interceptor pilot. It goes against everything I believe in (FreeSpace-wise).

INTERCEPTOR > ALL

Cordova is hilarious. He gets much more angry than anyone else in the failure debriefings.

Commander Habu.

WTF ?! Whos Ted Kennedy ? Ohhh, is that the guy who did the voice for Admiral Petrach ?

I hate to say it, but Snipes was about the only commander who had any real development at all, and it was pretty shoddy overall...

To judge a character I think you need more than 10-15 lines of dialogue to get to know them, most of these guys would barely count as extras in a movie.

C'mon, man! You must get out too much.

Anyway, Cordova ftw.

I voted for snipes, though i do reckon Samsa sounds pretty wicked. He's got this rough, tough, gruff sound in his voice, and makes him stand out a bit more. You can certainly tell he's got more kills under his belt then the pleasant sounding Loukakis.

I voted Admiral Petrach, Robert Loggia is king!  :D

Of course the Commander of the 70th Blue Lions  :D

Ok, almost everyone will say Snipes, so I say Habu. Vasudans are cool!

is that why the vasudans disobayed orders when told not to intercept the NTF Iceni in one of the loop missions? :P

looks like snipes is gunna win.

you should have put up Bosch -_-

Snipes is my vote, he actually sent a wing on a suicide mission. and the best bit its more my style.
i also like taking orders from snipes.

i dont like cordova he sounds a bit too... how shall i put it.. dull "Lieutenant Commander Corvoda here" that just sounds like someone forgot there meds

then you got the womans voice Vincey. god that plain american corperate voice gave me a headache everytime she spoke.

I was thinking about putting up the voice of that woman C.O , but i knew that no-one would vote for her, so i forgot it. (plus, those missions were annoying...whats the point of hitting something with a TAG-missile ? The kill wont even count as mine  :mad: )

My god, stop embarrasing yourself!

Anyway, my favorite commander? Commander Ko Mander. :nervous: With a name like that, he HAS to be cool! :D

But seriously, I prefer Cordova. He sounds like he has authority in his voice, unlike some leaders.

anyone besides me notice that either commander habu, or the vasudan who does the briefings before the actual mission breif (like petrarchs addresses), sounds exactly like petrarch?

Cordova is the same voice as the Psamtik's admiral, and Loukakis is the same voice as the Psamtik's briefing officer.  Come to think of it, how did that Vasudan briefing officer survive the Psamtik's destruction and become the same guy on the GTD Memphis?
Title: Re: Your favourite commander
Post by: Centrixo on January 11, 2007, 10:17:46 pm
probably reassigned to another station before the psamtik was dispatched, or habu was in a fighter, im not sure.

as for Vincey's part, they are the most boring missions in fs2 and added with that voice, thats just wrong.

Cool, I didn't know about Loukakis.

More doppelgangers:
Samsa = Colossus
Vincey = Hargrove
Niven = Discovery, Argo
Admiral Wolf (FS1) = SOC command briefing guy
Admiral Scott (ST) = Snipes

I wonder if reincarnation is a prerequisite for becoming an SOC officer. :D

You know, I rather liked the female commander from the Barracudas CEU.  She was very professional.  I felt informed by her briefings.

High praise indeed, I know.

WHOEVER KEEPS PUTTING UP RANDOM POLL OPTIONS, KNOCK IT OFF ! :hopping:

I kept the voting open in case someone remembered the name of the vasudan commander, or the chick commander, but obviously you're all too immature to have a decent voting poll.  :mad:

This is HLP, get used to it. We've had 100 of these ridiculous polls in the past, and there'll no doubt be newbies coming in he future making the very same ones. We gotta do something to keep them interesting, since we're already recycling old responses from old threads to fill these in.

What about the way too cheery artificial simulator voice?  :D "Welcome to training simulator module TSM-103..."  I always crack up every time he says "This module is designed to...", the way it's exactly the same every time.

Hahaha, I totally need to give that kind of speech next time I teach someone how to use some computer program at the office...

Try listening to the "The TSM series is not intended..." voice at double speed, but without a pitch shift. It seriously sounds like those guys you hear saying all the legal stuff at the end of commercials.

samsa all the way. in a subtle way he's cool and nice, but it still gets his point accross that he is experianced and knows what he's talking about.  :nod:
