Title: Excalibur question
Post by: Ghost Rider LSOV on January 12, 2007, 02:59:32 am
Sorry if it has been answered before...

Will the Excalibur's auto-targeting system work in the FS2 engine as well?
And if yes, won't that break the balance in multiplayer?

If not, I'm ok. :P

Autotracking is on the wish/want list  :)

Multiplayer part has not been balanced yet anyway. For instance: we will need an individual set of missiles to be used in mp mode, as sp mode missiles are far too deadly.

Even in FS2 there were two sets of missiles, one for sp one for mp. The so called dogfight modification as far as I recall

I was just joking. Sure for multiplayer we should do some playtesting the modifiy the tables for a bit more fun then instand killing...else everyone will just fire his missiles when he sees the enemy.
Question is...shoud missiles be less acurate/easier to evade with countermessures or should the be less powerfull?

We never bothered with that in BtRL so it's not mandatory :) Then again our missiles are weak. Guns are where it's at for our mod so you might need the change.

Then again multi players soon get good enough to dodge missiles anyway.

BTW, while talking about Btrl, if you haven't add this to the "failure WCS did"-Thread :) be sure that you guys think about how to communicate the mission simulator if you have additional sim-missions. Non FS-Player don't find them :(

Autotracking is on the wish/want list  :)

Wasn't it introduced once ? I remember something about this.

So are cannons able to auto-target somehow?  When playing Prologue I was only able to aim manually.(which was rather a disappointment)

Even if it is already possible (but I guess I'm wrong in this, maybe it was just in a SCP discussion where I read it), you can't autoaim in the prologue.
The excalibur is the only ship with this feature (which is more or less cheating :) )

IT always felt like cheating thats for sure :)

Just point in the general direction of the Kilrathi and the Excalibur aimed for you and had the firepower to blow whatever was infront into small bits in very rapid succession.  A bit too super maybe...I have no problem with that feature being missing.  What you guys do need to do is show off a nice Excalibur model sometime :)

How about the Excalibar/Arrow slide ability, Will this be included at some future date?  I foundit quite  usefull to getting thoes pesky bandits on my tail in wc3.

only Arrow and Exalibur, yes

can you imagine the excaliber with target tracking and slide ability? Its completely unfair ;)
Though that does bring the question of multilayer balance.  If such a thing were included would the exaliber would only be in single player or would there be a multilayer version with out target tracking and less powerful guns.

I think that certain weapons will be rebalanced for multiplayer. We are currently in the process of creating interface screens for mp part. Onle then will we start working mp missions and balancing.

wow that should work great for the Excaliber's two side turrets.  It probably wont mater that it can only be done by player ships as i'm not even sure if the AI pilots guns tracked in the original wc3 and how would you tell the diffrence?

I guess it would be the same deal as with gliding - ai never uses this feature... neither do I, if it comes to that :D
