Well I said I would post some details on this and here they are. This stuff is fairly general because depending on the how the demo goes I might not go on to make the full campaign.
If I do then this is what you can expect...
- New FS2 universe with its own history and story to tell.
- A few mods (though not many).
- Modifications to some ships and weapons. When you play this be prepared to take a new approach to combat.
- Some new music including a new in mission piece I call "Aggression".
Here's some general history to set the scene for my camapign...

The plot really begins several hundred years before the events of the campaign take place…
The development of subspace travel heralds a new age of exploration and expansions throughout the solar system. Approximately 50 years later the fist subspace node is discovered. A further 15 years of intense research and testing the first long-range vessel has its subspace drive modified to use the node. This vessel successfully arrives in what is later identified as the Alpha Centauri system.
Within a hundred years the first colonies are established on the newly terra-formed planets Gabriels’ Dream, Neo Terra Prime and Gateway. Resource exportation to sol begins almost immediately.
Approximately 18 years later the citizens of Alpha Centauri declare independence along with a large portion of local military garrisons. The sudden severing of Alpha Centauri from Earth’s control caught the government by total surprise. In a desperate attempt to regain control several battle groups were deployed in the Alpha Centauri system. They were never heard from again…
For the next 4 years the Earth government deploys its two largest destroyer groups around the node expecting a counter attack. It never came. However, further expeditionary forces sent through the node never returned. Alpha Centauri was declared off limits to all personnel and Sol began its search for new jump nodes.
The seconds jump node wasn’t found for another 45 years on the outer reaches of the solar system orbiting Mercury. An expeditionary force determined the system to be Lambda 2115. Colonisation commenced several decades later under tight security and monitoring.
To this day Lambda 2115 has proven to be stable with almost as rich resource deposits as Alpha Centauri. By now several larger colonies have been firmly established on the main planets and additional orbital stations now promoted import and export trades between the two systems.
A third jump node has been located close to Jupiter. This jump node leads to a distant star system named Lave (about 50 light years away). The system has not been fully charted yet but several small mining colonies have been established on the single planet and a single trading post orbits it. A large cloud of gas much like a nebula surrounds the system. Groups of mining vessels are currently probing areas of the cloud searching for valuable fuels. So far the results have been promising. Traversing the cloud is however extremely hazardous. Many ships have already been reported missing and EMP storms can scramble navigational sensors at random.
An additional noticeable side effect is that the nebula seems to have a psychological effect on some crewmembers spending long periods within the cloud. Symptoms begin with anxiety rising to strong paranoia, followed by claustrophobia and if left unchecked the victim can literally become paralysed with fear. In every case the symptoms are exactly the same. Scientists have been unable to ascertain the exact cause for the problem and it is recommended that anyone who goes into the nebula should spend no more than 18 hours before leaving. Anyone experiencing this problem before then should leave immediately.
Bloody hell my fingers are sore after that. Anyway that’s a taster of the history of my campaign. If I go ahead with it the finer details will be worked out. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

the evil aliens from The Faculty have subdued all the people there, and are now preparing an invasion in order to capture frodo baggins and torture him for the death of their first queen sent to earth (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

You forgot about their alliance with the Borg from ST:TNG and their plans to replace all the water on earth with peanut butter (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/devil.gif)

nah, just mentionned that coz Elijah Wood (herr... or something like that) features as the hero of Faculty, and as frodo too, foo!

Ok, here's some current events to set the scene for the campaign.
Recently civil war has broke out when a large proportion of Lambda 2115 local forces (calling themselves "Free Lambda Coalition") tried to declare Lambda an independant state. However, since Alpha Centauri the Sol governemnt has been prepared for such an incident. The local populace have been treated much more favourably than those of Alpha Centauri had, therefore many of the locals are content to let the situation play itself out. Unfortunatly a significant proportion of the local forces defected to pose a threat.
The Sol Defence Forces (SDF) controls both sides of the node giving Sol the main advantage. If the FLC successfully blockade their side of the node then Lambda is lost.
The situation in Lave is stable and promising. Only a small garrison is established there to interdict pirate activities.
The current situation...
The campaign begins when a significant FLC force rushes the Lambda blockade. An Orion class carrier designated the FLCr Dante, a Hecate class destroyer designated the FLD Phantom, and three Aeolus class gunships designated the FLC Hyperion, FLC Procairon and the FLC Necris have successfully breached the blockade and are now somwhere in Sol. Forces have been despatched to intercept them.
Alpha wing has deployed from the SDD Vanguard to to help secure the node until relief forces arrive. The Vanguard herself has moved off to engage the Phantom.
Well that's it for now. I don't want to give away too much yet. The details above may be changed if they cause any conflicts so just take them as general ideas.

I started a campaign, got 3 missions done, then my 2 staff members seemed to just die, support went through the FLOOR, so I stopped the project (at least for now)

I've seen that happen alot. That's why I'm doing most of the work myself. The only thing I need a staffer for is to set up and maintain a website if the demo is a hit.
