This should be a pleasant surprise to Greywolf, I hope he likes the colour scheme (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I've no clue when it comes to proper rendering, so maybe Setekh if you get a sec you might make me a wallpaper to be proud of (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Polys/Faces/Time to create?
That color scheme goes nicely with the ship in my opinion.. good work (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Time to create? A bit tooooo long (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
398 polys.
...and thankyou (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
wow, that looks good (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
What's up with the textures.... some areas are nicely detailed, others are hella pixelly.
-
I know, it's strange, I used two 256*256 texs, one for the engines and wings and the other for the hull, cockpit and gun pod. For some reason even though I did my damnest to try and remove it the sides of the cockpit seem to have lost some detail. I might try reworking the UVW if I get some time but it's the best I can do for now.
Hmmmm I might give the cockpit it's own 128*128 texture or do you recon that would be too excessive?

And this shows why he textures things and I don't. Much better than my texturing job for it:

You got your comp working again, Maeglamor?
-
Not quite 100% operational dude but just enough to allow me to get a little something together (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
BTW I'm going to retexture the cockpit with a single 128*128 map. It'll allow me to get a better result (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Hope you like it.

I just realied something...the page is now lying because you said before you couldn't help anymore because of the dead HD...

*waits patiently for model in mail* (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I fixed the texture problem, the new pics are up now, a bit better I think (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
BTW Setekh, I uploaded the model and textures to my HLP staff folder, it's called "cyclone5".
-
Setekh did you get the model/texs? (If you want I can mail them as well (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Only one word for the revised version:
Damn (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Schoveet. I give it a 46.5 out of a possible J.

Uhhhhh... Thanks. I think (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
You'll be getting this ASAP GreyWolf along with the Mars model.
-
*bump*
I still can't get over how much better it looks. Remember when it looked like this:
and the Mars looked like this:

Awwww, now I'm curious and confused (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Apparently he doesn't like my l33t modeling from before I knew what I was doing.
-
Hmmm, judging by the number of postings I don't think the morrigan is 'leet enough... is no-one interested or is it just ordinary?
Back to the drawing board?!?
-
I think its pretty groovy Maeglamor, especially that texturing job. That makes the model right there.
The only think I would change, is perhaps burn a few more polys on the cockpit area. Right now the texture is creating all the definition, but if you were to add a few more polys in the regiou just around the cockpit glass, it would pick out the detail more clearly. Perhaps, also, some polys to fill out the side profile a touch. Its a bit blade like as it is now.

When I was designing it I was trying to keep its cross section as small as possible since it's a pretty large-ish ship, when you pull up the enemy has a big target to shoot at. The idea was to make it hard for capships to hit it while you're doing head-on strafing runs but that was the days of xwing vs. Tie. Beam weapons change the rules a bit (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
-
so that's the origin of the ship...
