Hi,
I'm relatively new to Fred and these forums, but i am getting pretty good at it.
I am looking for people who are willing to make an extensive post-fs2 campaign and work via MSN.
My campaign will be called "Reconnections". 10 Years after the second incursion, the GTVA builds their own Knossos "Nostos" portal in delta serpentis, in hope to re-establish contact with the long lost Earth... Upon completion, you, the famous "alpha one", get called back from retirement for this historic moment : The reconnection towards Sol. The last few years were quite calm, without major battles... But of late, H.o.L and NTF Remnants have been more active of late, and have been doing unusual activities... Maybe related to the new portal...
Anyways, that's my idea of the campaign i am about to work on. I've already started the first two missions...
Hope you guys like and let's hope i can recruit people, lol...

Not to discourage you, but...
I swear I've read this post three or four hundred times before.
Hell, I've even WRITTEN this post.
Seriously, It's a great idea, and I think you should do it. However, I think you should first scroll down these forums, to the Hosted Projects section, and try and find one or two of them that appeal to you. If you find one, offer to FRED for them. This has several benefits:
1. you'll get experience FREDing.
2. You'll establish a reputation as a good FREDer, and that'll help convince people to join your projects (like this campaign.)
3. The Hosted Project will finish faster, which will free up talented Modders and FREDers (who are a rare commodity these days) to possibly work on your project.
All in all, you'll benefit greatly by starting with a Hosted Project, then trying this campaign.
EDIT: If you can't find a Hosted Project you like, you should also check out the ones over at HLP's sister site, game-warden.com (http://www.game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8).
EDIT2:
:welcome:

What do you mean by "I've written this post before" and seen it before?
Are you telling me this is a overused idea or something?

No, simply that I've seen many people (myself included) try to start a campaign this extensive and find themselves discouraged from ever modding again because of the difficulty of working on it alone. It's very hard to find other people to help you, and your talent would probably be better used helping out on an already-started project, THEN starting this campaign.
Also, I'm an Edit Whore, so you might not have seen the final version of my post. I realized it was a tad harsh, and re-wrote it to offer some advice instead of just shooting you down. If you were at all offended by my unedited post, I apologize. :)
Scroll up and re-read it, just in case you didn't see some of those edits.
EDIT: See? I'm doing it again. I fixed the spelling of "instead".

Oh i see, i've read the other post...
I'll take your suggestions at heart...
But there's one thing i'm not good with in fred... The event editor.
I can do almost anything else, except that. If i were able to code events on my own, i'd be doing this campaign all by myself....

Forgive me for laughing, but the Events Editor is 80% or more of FREDding. If you are unable to do the Events Editor...
I suggest you build a mission in FRED using the included walkthrough as a guide. You'll learn enough about events to be able to code them yourself, and as you make more and more missions, you'll keep getting better and better.

If you don't have the walkthrough DH mentioned, you can get it here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/Downloads/freddocs.rar).
I just realized that it doesn't come with my Installer. I'll fix that after dinner.

Thats why he said he's looking for a team. :doubt:

Thats why he said he's looking for a team. :doubt:
it's VERY unlikely he's going to find FREDers/modders with free time on this forum. He'll end up going it alone anyways.
-
I don't care how much time it takes to find a team, i won't give up that easily, and i'm not a quitter... I will persist in my objectives until they are accomplished.
If i have to do it alone, i will.
-
Yeah I was lucky... I started my campaign at a great time; the best Italian FREDer came and helps me do the FREDing!
*THANKS MOBIUS!!!!*
Anyways why don't you contact some FRED campaign-makers and ask them to port their SP campaigns to MP? It's not that hard from what I hear. Good luck!

Thanks for the advertising, Bob.
You shouldn't disencourage him, Turey. Most campaigns are Post-Capella because everyone wants to create his/her(we have to write her too for the time being)own version of "FS3". As long as there are original ideas, Post-Capella campaigns are normal. Simply compare Renegade Ressurgence, STHCRS, Utopia, ecc. they're all Post-Capella campaigns but completely different.
-
It's not the "post-FS2" aspect of the idea that they're discouraging from, it's from the expectation that a new community member who's inexperienced in FRED has a realistic shot at putting together a major campaign. These things generally don't work out, for any number of reasons, and Turey's trying to save him from spending a lot of fruitless time and effort based on his own experiences.
