Title: 24: Day 6
Post by: Dough with Fish on January 15, 2007, 09:03:07 pm
If there is one show out there that can rival the awsomeness of BSG, it's 24.

Anyway, LA.... nuked. That was.. well, that was certainly not the ending I was expecting of this episode, but goddamn am I hooked for next week.

The only dumb part of the show is that if you miss a single episode, you're ****ed. Couple that with the fact the station that shows it down here gets off on moving programs around every ****ing week, and i'm actually finding myself agreeing with you.

No, you're not. Perhaps we should form a club.

Lt. Thorne had his way with Jack Bauer, and Admiral Cain tossed his corpse out an airlock.

I think it's definitely jumped the shark. Honestly, how many bad days can Jack Bauer have?

Last ten minutes (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Jzd67LlTwZs) of last nights show. Even if you don't like the show, give it a watch and see how they pull off the nuking.

That was the most comical "noooo!" that I've ever heard.
I suspected that Curtis would die sometime soon; he'd lived for too long for a CTU field agent. That's what happens when you're Jack Bauer's friend. I'm guessing that Chloe or Buchanan are next; they've been around for a while too. I do enjoy 24, but it has been descending into incredulity, and by this point I've become desensitised to plot twists.

Ep4's ending was a great one, though.

The plot of 24 was credulous at one point?

24 is, as I believe Keith Olbermann recently put it, conservative fear porn. I enjoyed watching it get whooped at the Golden Globes, especially when Hugh Laurie took Best Actor in a TV Series.

And we should always trust the wise, unbigoted, and yet at the same time hilariously funneh advice of Keith Olbermann.

All hail the Olbermann! :blah:

Well, it was my opinion irrespective of what Keith Olbermann says, but I thought he put it particularly well, and I didn't want to take credit for his verbal triumph.

It can't be purely conservative when last season was all about corrupt oil hungry government, and this season has civil rights issues as a sideplot.

Nothing is purely anything. But 24 is so wildly sensationalist in its portrayal of the battle between terrorism and the free world, it doesn't really matter what else it says. It's a parody of itself, and its problem is that it's trusting the viewers to discern the difference between fantasy and reality; a large portion of the population is none too adept at that.

I noticed a pattern. In all the even-numbered seasons so far, muslim terrorists have tried to nuke LA.
