Probably a simple question, but is low hard disk space a condition for MediaVPs stuff not to load in a mod (example: FSPort)?
100 < my HDD space < 200
:)

100MB is an awfully low amount of hard drive space to be running fs2_open with. Are you sure that you aren't running out of room for virtual memory?
-
I'll just say that all of my hard disks are filled to the brim and I haven't the money for another one. (http://209.85.12.236/5024/118/emo/bangwall.gif)
Just wanted to clarify if this was the cause of MediaVPs stuff not loading - usually I run the Port and they show up as per normal IIRC.
-
Like he said, you may be running low on virtual memory (swap space on the disk) and that could be why things arent loading as they should.......
-
I've run FS2_Open with low HDD space (less than 100, at times, actually (I've since cleared up some space)), and didn't have any problems. I'd be inclined to look elsewhere for a solution... though I wouldn't discount the possibility entirely.

You may have more RAM than him, however.

512 MB?
Actually it's 1.5 GB now, but it wasn't back then.

My swap partition is well over 2 gigabytes... and I still occasionally have problems (usually involving other programs as well... but still)... WTF?
-
Twin DDR400 512's, and it's the highest my board can take at this DDR level.
Anyways I've "solved" the problem - needed space for some other things so I reluctantly got rid of NFS Carbon... and whaddya know, HTL Faustus and HTL Lucifer show up.

The "free space" in memory is highly dependent, obviously, on the amount of spyware and other programs you have running in the background, as well as the location of said memory blocks. If fs2_open needs a 8MB block of memory for a large texture, but can't find a space, it'll simply fail. This is why memory fragmentation is a Bad Thing.

Correction - it's only partially solved. :wtf: Just installed the HTL Zeus (rename to bomber09htl.pof, make Zeus_HTL.vp, place copies in FSPort and mediavps, use TBM to force the use of the HTL model) and happened to run into it.
SD Lucifer in Port is still vanilla - but the odd thing is, the Ursa/Medusa/Hercules I/Faustus remain HTL even though their HTL POF's don't exist in the Port folder (files are drawn out of the MediaVPs).
The Zeus shares the same problem as with the Lucifer, which is why at I used TBM's in addition to putting a copy in the Port folder in order to force the HTL model to be used. Simply dumping the VP (with bomber09.pof at first) in MediaVPs/Port folder and loading up the Port didn't work (I did not check in the case of the MediaVPs though).
In case it matters, my file/folder structures are all correct.
