Title: Problematic files
Post by: Vasudan Commander on January 17, 2007, 04:25:48 am
Hi everyone.

I know this must sound quite noobish, but recently I downloaded the version of FS1 + FS1 Silent Threat , but they came in very large .BIN files, accompanied by a small .CUE file.

I have no clue how to execute these files, nor do i know a program that does. I searched up google for these files, but every link from google regarding BIN or CUE files seems to be blocked (stupid auto-blocker).

Little help ?

They are CD Images, you need a program that will burn them onto CD's, you also need a CD Burner.

I use a commercial CD Burner, so I don't know what software would be best, possibly something like

BIN file is a binary file (or an image) containing the information in the disk. CUE file is a... well, it's a cue for a virtual disk reader that tells a program where to find the information.

You use them by either burning them onto CD like Flipside said, or if you have spare disk space you can simply use the files from the HD. That requires downloading and installing for example Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%, and then you create a virtual disk and open the CUE file in it, and that will mount the disk image to the virtual disk. Then you use the virtual disk like any other CD, except that the data is not physically on a disk, the software just makes your OS think so... for the most part anyway.
