Title: 3.6.9 no speech with microphone
Post by: Kuras on January 18, 2007, 02:34:24 am
I like to talk by microphone and I was surprised when I put my microphone in and launched the game then press the TILDE (~) and nothing happens, it should start recording my voice,  What's wrong with it ?

Did you use the -voicer cmdline option to actually enable voice recognition?

I think he's on about the multiplayer voice transmission not the voice recognition.

Ah... guess I'm just getting paranoid. :D

I suppose I don't really have a valid idea then.

This looks like the place to put this so...

How do I use the voice recog? I have the file installed, everything's ready, I just don't know how to activate the voice recog, and how to specify which wing/ship when I'm speaking?

I haven't tried yet, but I read somewhere you have to train Windows to recognize your speech, then it will work in FreeSpace.

It's in Speech Properties in the control panel.

<edit> It's a little bit involved:

<edit> hmm, doesn't seem to be a good free way to do it. They want you to have Office installed. Any advice anyone?

<edit> I was unable to make speech recognition work with the SDK5.1. Even though I think I'm supposed to be able to, I was getting an error message. All the normal internet suggestions didn't work, so I think I figured something out myself, I'll try again later. However, I'm proud to announce I HAVE found free voice recognition software for flight simulators at last. Here's a list with the free one at the top:

1) Flight Assistant 2.0.0, FREE!!!!
